Tortoise Enjoys a 'Good Shell Scratch' at Nashville Zoo

The Nashville Zoo’s beloved tortoise Koraline recently enjoyed a “good shell scratch” while hanging out, video from the zoo shows.

Koraline is an Aldabra tortoise, which is one of the largest types of tortoise and is classified as a vulnerable species, according to the zoo.

Although the shell is less sensitive than their skin, “turtles and tortoises actually have nerve endings in their shells and can feel when being touched,” the zoo said. Credit: Nashville Zoo via Storyful
