Tory MP facing calls to resign over ‘Islamophobic’ image of Sadiq Khan having sex with pig
A Tory MP has faced calls to resign after posting an ‘Islamophobic’ image of London Mayor Sadiq Khan having sex with a pig.
Michael Fabricant posted, then deleted the image, which referred to Khan’s decision to permit a balloon depicting Trump as a baby to fly over London.
MPs and critics have described the image as ‘vile’ and ‘Islamophobic’, and called on him to resign.
Labour’s Chuka Umunna said that the image was evidence the Conservatives have a problem with Islamophobia.
Umunna said, ‘Can’t believe Mike Fabricant tweeted that vile, islamophobic image of Sadiq Khan.’
Appalling – Tory MP @Mike_Fabricant shares a picture of Sadiq Khan as a pig i.e. it is him being a Muslim that is somehow relevant?
FYI: Islamophobes similarly use the pig as a means of attacking Muslims e.g. bacon at mosques.

Activist and columnist Owen Jones said, ‘The now deleted tweet by Mike Fabricant is gratuitously racist and the Tories have to suspend him now.’
Fabricant later said, ‘I did not even see there was a face on the pig. As soon as I saw there was, I deleted it. I did it within 2 minutes, but my fault was not checking it closer on my iPhone first.’
.I did not see the detail on my small iPhone.
I stupidly tweeted it in a meeting without checking it properly and hadn’t spotted there was a face on it. I am genuinely sorry if it caused anyone offence and I am disappointed in the person who sent it to me in the first place.— Michael Fabricant (@Mike_Fabricant) July 13, 2018
Earlier in the week, Piers Morgan asked Sadiq Khan, ‘ ‘Would you have endorsed an image of you as a pig which is very offensive to Muslims?’
