Caledonian Leisure has acquired the bespoke tour outfit Tartan Travel in partnership with the Glasgow-founded coach operator Blackpool Promotions.

The purchase allows Caledonia Leisure to expand its holiday offerings across Scotland, with additional points of departure from Edinburgh, Bathgate, and Halbeath provided by the deal.

The Managing Director for Caledonia Leisure Graham Rogers said: “We’re delighted that Tartan Travel has joined the Caledonian Family and look forward to welcoming their customers on one of our short breaks and holidays.”

He added that Caledonia Leisure was “thrilled” about the mutual partnership with Blackpool Promotions, which was established in Glasgow in 1983 and has grown to be the largest provider of breaks to the English seaside resort where it owns four hotels.

Mr Rogers said: “Blackpool Promotions shares our ‘customer first approach’, and we look forward to working closely with the team to create memorable package breaks for our customers in this fabulous resort."

The arrangement between the operators will include reciprocal promotions, with Caledonia Leisure offering deals which will include stays at hotels owned by Blackpool Promotions which in turn will support Caledonia’s holiday packages.

Blackpool Promotions were similarly enthusiastic about the partnership.

John Westhead, Operations Director, said: “This is the first time we have ever partnered with another holiday operator but one that we’re extremely excited about.

“Caledonian’s performance in the past couple of years is nothing short of extraordinary, we believe joining forces between our two reputable brands will deliver exceptional products and packages to our growing audiences to mutual benefit.”
