The Tourist season 2 officially launches on New Year's Day at 9pm on BBC One.
Once again lead by Jamie Dornan as Elliot Stanley and Danielle Macdonald as PC Helen Chambers, all six episodes of the thriller's second season will also be available to stream on iPlayer from 6am on Monday, January 1 (via BBC).
Moving the story from Australia's dusty outback to the Emerald Isle, this time Elliot and Helen attempt to uncover the secrets of the former's past, but they're soon dragged into a longstanding family feud that threatens dire consequences.
Series creators Harry and Jack Williams jointly said around the time of its renewal: "The Tourist was unlike anything we'd written before and we're hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one.
"It's been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved, and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and offbeat drama."
Unsurprisingly, actors Dornan and Macdonald were also keen to dive back in.
"I'm incredibly excited to continue the story with The Tourist," commented Dornan, who appeared in Heart of Stone for Netflix this summer.
"Harry and Jack Williams are brilliant writers, and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and it’s characters are utilised to keep them guessing as the tale progresses..."
Macdonald added: "I'm so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew. Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant storytellers and it's exciting to see what their minds will come up with next."
The Tourist series 1 is streaming on BBC iPlayer and available on DVD and Blu-ray, while the second season premieres New Year's Day.
