Traditional vintage fair coming to Newstead Abbey with 'old fashioned fun'

There will be fun for all the family at a vintage funfair with traditional rides at Newstead Park. The ancestral home of the Romantic poet Lord Byron will be the backdrop for the fair which has more than 100 years of history.

Rides and attractions include Ferris wheel, cakewalk, chair-o-planes, electric yachts, magic mirrors and a haunted house, with a soundtrack of the greatest hits from the 1950s and 60s.

The event will be staged over the bank holiday weekend, from May 4 to 6, and May 11 and 12, from 10am to 5pm. Tokens will cost £1.20 each or 20 tokens for £20. Site entry and parking charges apply.

In a Facebook event, the organisers say: "The traditional vintage funfair returns to Newstead Abbey for some bank holiday fun! The perfect day out for all ages, the best games, the classic rides and the sweetest treats.

"Come on down for some good old fashioned fun."
