TRAFFIC ALERT: East Texas roads flooded, washed out by rain

POLK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Polk County Emergency Management, the City of Lufkin and TxDOT have reported that several roads are flooded or washed out on Sunday as heavy rains hit East Texas.

On Monday, Nacogdoches County authorities said the following road hazards have been reported, and that more rainfall is expected:

  • 6200 block of FM 1638, tree and powerlines in road

  • 100 block of CR 620, water

  • 17500 block FM 226, water

  • 5500 block of FM 226, water

  • 6600 block of S. FM 225, water

  • 6800 and 7300 blocks of FM 343, water

  • 500 block CR 411, water

  • CR 538, water

  • 4600 block of FM 698, water

  • CR 273, water

  • CR 274, water

  • CR 280, water

The following road conditions were reported on Sunday in East Texas:

  • FM 228, FM 2022 and FM 227 at Padro Creek in Houston County are flooded.

  • FM 1818, FM 324, FM 843 and FM 706 have high water in Angelina County.

  • FM 1818 and FM 2743 also have downed trees in Angelina County.

  • FM 357 at Wallace Creek, FM 2781 near SH 7 and FM 357 at Black Lake Creek in Trinity County have water in the road.

  • E. Denman Ave. in front of Dollar General is flooded in Lufkin.

  • Frank Avenue in front of CHI is flooded in Lufkin.

  • Sayers Street at Ellen Trout Drive in Lufkin is flooded.

  • A bridge is reportedly washed out on Wilton Street off Paul Avenue in Lufkin.

  • Southwood Drive south of the Water Treatment Plant is flooded in Lufkin.

  • Loop 287 underpass at South First Street is closed in Lufkin.

  • Copeland Street is flooded in Lufkin.

  • 2300 block of Hanks Street is flooded in Lufkin.

  • FM 1276 has five areas that are hard to pass because of water in the road.

  • Bobcat Trail has had a culvert collapse.

  • County Line Road is washed out between Benny Griffin Road and Timberline Road.

  • US 287 North at FM 2663 is flooded in Houston County.

  • US 287 South outside Loop 304 is flooded in Houston County.

  • FM 2663 close to FM 2022 is flooded in Houston County.

  • FM 1272 is flooded in Houston County.

Polk County is also under a Tornado Watch and Flood Watch for Sunday so officials said to be careful if you must drive since more roads are likely to be impacted.
