Tragedy as man dies after emergency services called to Northumberland home

A man tragically died inside a Northumberland property.

Emergency services were called to a house on Marygate in Berwick at around 5pm on Saturday. Paramedics, police and the air ambulance were in attendance but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The added: “Shortly before 5pm on Saturday (April 13), we received a report from the ambulance service of concern for a male at an address on Marygate in Berwick, Northumberland.

“Emergency services attended and despite the efforts of paramedics the man – aged 56 – was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.

“Officers do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death, which has now been referred to the coroner."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a medical incident at a private address on Marygate in Berwick on Saturday 13 April shortly before 4pm. We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service."
