A much-loved Coventry man who was 'there for everyone' has died at the age of just 34. Christy was the much-loved face behind The Four Provinces on Allesley Old Road in Chapelfields.

Christy spent eight years at the city-based boozer and in that time built strong relationships with the regulars whom he 'treated like family.' He was said to be working just hours before he died last Wednesday (May 15).

Friend Alex Ceairns said the 34-year-old went to the GP before he tragically collapsed and died. He was remembered for being a 'cherished son, brother, uncle and beloved friend.'

His devastated loved ones said: “With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Christy Brown, known for his unwavering kindness and compassion, who sadly left this world too soon on May 15, 2024. He was a true gentleman, thoughtful, impeccably witty and extremely caring.

“He had the ability to make light of any situation and was always a shoulder to cry on. His presence was a blessing. We will forever cherish the memories and the love he brought into our lives.”

Friend Alex, who owns The Four Provinces, said: “Christy was relied upon by a lot of people, he was a great support for all of his staff, my family and all of our regulars. He was there for everyone.”

“He was my rock. Christy told me what to do! He worked for me but he put me in the right place on the weekends and told me where to be and what to do,” Alex added.

The Four Provinces, on Allesley Old Road, remained closed in the days that followed his unexpected passing with Alex describing reopening as 'really tough.' He said: “It was really tough for me to open without Christy.

“Although I am the owner Christy was very much the man, he was here full-time, and I was just here at the weekends. He ran the pub day-to-day, he did everything.”
