Transfer news LIVE! Odegaard to Arsenal confirmed! Kane latest; Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs rumours today
Transfer news LIVE!
All eyes are on the Emirates today with Arsenal confirming the return of Martin Odegaard - and the Gunners are also set to announce the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale, with the pair costing a total of more than £50million.
Things are less certain on the other side of north London as the Harry Kane saga continues, while another world-class forward - Robert Lewandowski - could be on the move from Bayern Munich.
It still seems slightly unreal, but Lionel Messi been officially unveiled as a PSG player after Barcelona were unable to afford a new contract. There is also mounting speculation that Paul Pogba could be headed to join him - but one megastar who won’t be on the move, it seems, is Cristiano Ronaldo - Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out a Real Madrid return for the Juventus star.
In another huge deal, Chelsea have re-signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5m and officially unveiled their new No9 today. As for Manchester United, they unveiled Raphael Varane before Saturday’s 5-1 rout of Leeds, while £73m Jadon Sancho made his debut off the bench. Next on their list could be Erling Haaland, but they may have to wait until next summer to sign the Dortmund sensation.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have been offered Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba as they also eye Atletico Madrid stalwart Saul Niguez. Tottenham are being linked with Pau Torres and Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic as well as Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic and Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez, while new reports say they are rivalling West Ham for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Arsenal for Houssem Aouar amid interest in a reunion between Nuno Espirito Santo and Wolves star Adama Traore.

Man United eye Mbappe move

One big transfer rumour is attracting perhaps more attention than any other this morning.
According to ESPN, Manchester United have added a certain Kylian Mbappe to their list of ambitious striker targets for next summer’s transfer window.
The French superstar has entered the final 12 months of his deal at Paris Saint-Germain - where he will form a truly formidable front three this season with Lionel Messi and Neymar - and is yet to agree an extension.
He has reportedly been added to a stellar list of United targets for 2022 that also includes Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with Mbappe, who many still expect to agree fresh terms in Paris.

Salah set for huge deal?
Thursday 19 August 2021 22:23 , Tom Doyle
Mo Salah seems happy at Liverpool, but it’s no secret that the Egyptian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Salah is 29 now, so that ship may have sailed - but he could earn big money by staying at Anfield, with The Athletic reporting that Liverpool are preparing their biggest ever contract offer which will increase his current salary beyond the £200,000-a-week he currently earns.
Lingard hope for West Ham?
Thursday 19 August 2021 22:20 , Tom Doyle
Jesse Lingard is back at Manchester United and looks set to be a valuable squad option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - but is that enough to keep him?
The Times reports that Lingard is ready to leave United unless he thinks he's going to get regular game time - and that's something Solskjaer may be unlikely to guarantee with so many forward options.
If that is the case and Lingard pushes for a move, West Ham will surely be back in for him after such a successful loan spell last season.

Blades eye Diallo loan
Thursday 19 August 2021 15:08 , Malik Ouzia
Sky Sports say that Sheffield United are interested in signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo on loan.
Diallo arrived at Old Trafford in January, after a £37million deal had been agreed with Atalanta at the end of the previous summer’s transfer window, but with Jadon Sancho having arrived from Borussia Dortmund his first-team chances are likely to be harder to come by.

Thursday 19 August 2021 14:42 , Malik Ouzia
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has not ruled Lionel Messi out of making his debut for the club against Brest on Friday night.
Messi has been working back to fitness after joining the club on a free transfer earlier this month but is yet to make his debut.
“We haven’t decided the squad yet and we will assess whether Messi can be a part of it,” Pochettino told a news conference when asked if his Argentine compatriot would be involved in the match against Brest.
“Everything is positive. There is a good atmosphere in the squad and he has settled in well and quickly. There is a very good feeling.”

Thursday 19 August 2021 11:50 , Marco Giacomelli
Chelsea splashed out £97.5m on Romelu Lukaku and still have money to go after France defender Jules Kounde.

Donnarumma living the dream with Messi
Thursday 19 August 2021 11:13 , Marco Giacomelli
Gianluigi Donnarumma still can’t quite believe he is team-mates with Lionel Messi.
The Italy goalkeeper joined Paris Saint-Germain from AC Milan last month as part of a massive summer recruitment drive, but the biggest deal was still to come with the arrival of the Argentina great.
Donnarumma told Il Corriere dello Sport: “It’s a theatrical coup, I couldn’t imagine that I would find him here. This is a dream team.”
Barnes: New deal was a no-brainer
Thursday 19 August 2021 11:00 , Marco Giacomelli
Harvey Barnes, who has been attracting interest from Liverpool, has signed a new four-year deal with Leicester.
The 23-year-old winger shone for the Foxes last season and made his England debut last October but a knee injury in February ended his campaign.
Barnes, who joined the club aged nine, said: “I’ve been here for so many years now, it feels like home. For me, it was a no-brainer.”

Odegaard and Ramsdale in race to face Chelsea
Thursday 19 August 2021 09:28 , Marco Giacomelli
Time is ticking for Arsenal as they look to get Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard and Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale through the door in time for Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.
With fees agreed, it is a case of completing medicals and personal terms and although no issues are expected, the players need to be registered by midday on Friday to be in the mix for the derby at the Emirates.
Odegaard, who was on loan at Arsenal last season, will cost £30m, while Ramsdale is an initial £24m.
£100m+ valuation to stop Lewandowski leaving Bayern
Thursday 19 August 2021 09:16 , Marco Giacomelli
Would you be happy if your club paid more than £100m for a player about to turn 33? Suppose that player was Robert Lewandowski?
Well, Sky Sports News is reporting today that the Bayern Munich striker wants to move to another top European side before he is 35.
He has two years left on his contract but the club’s £100m-plus valuation will make any move incredibly difficult.
Although Lewandowski is said to be frustrated by Bayern’s stance, Sky says he is unlikely to rock the boat at a club where he has spent seven years, scoring 297 goals in 331 games.
Spurs target Tomiyasu ‘staying at Bologna'
Thursday 19 August 2021 08:45 , Marco Giacomelli
Bologna’s sporting director has suggested that Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu will not be leaving this summer.
Spurs have held talks with the Italian club over a deal for the 22-year-old Japan defender, while West Ham have also long tracked his progress.
However, speaking to Fanta Calcio, Bologna director, Walter Sabatini said: “I think Tomiyasu will stay at Bologna. We have never been willing to sell him.”
The differences between Levy and Kane
Thursday 19 August 2021 08:12 , Marco Giacomelli
The Telegraph report on why Daniel Levy and Harry Kane are disagreeing over their gentleman’s agreement regarding a potential move.
The striker believes he was promised he could go this summer if Tottenham finished outside the top-four or did not win a trophy last season.
However, the Telegraph understand that Levy believes the agreement was that Kane would be sold only to a foreign side, unless a Premier League rival made an “amazing offer”.
Kane, it is said, believes that proposal was raised in meetings far more recently, and that he never agreed to it, but Levy is digging in.
Too complicated to stop Ramsdale joining Arsenal
Thursday 19 August 2021 07:40 , Marco Giacomelli
There was no way Sheffield United could stop Aaron Ramsdale from leaving for Arsenal, says Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic.
The goalkeeper was left out of the squad for last night’s 4-0 defeat by West Brom ahead of a £24million move to the Emirates.
After that match, Jokanovic said: "It’s not really what I want but it’s difficult to stop this kind of situation. It’s a huge deal for the club and we have been relegated from the Premier League, so it’s complicated to say no."
Nuno ignoring constant Kane speculation
Wednesday 18 August 2021 22:35 , George Flood
Nuno Espirito Santo says Tottenham are lucky to have Harry Kane and insists he is paying no attention to the speculation over the striker’s future, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
Kane's situation at Spurs is increasingly the subject of claim and counter-claim, as the England captain attempts to engineer a move to Manchester City in the final fortnight of the transfer window.
Kane has returned to training with the Spurs first team after missing Sunday’s win over City but was not included in the travelling squad for Thursday's Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Pacos de Ferreira.
Speaking ahead of the game, Nuno revealed he had had breakfast with Kane before the flight to Portugal on Wednesday morning and insisted the club is paying no attention to the constant speculation.

Tottenham are eyeing a potential reunion between Nuno Espirito Santo and Adama Traore, reports suggest.
Traore flourished under Nuno’s leadership at Wolves, who are now braced for a £45m offer from Spurs if Harry Kane joins Manchester City, per the Daily Mail.
Liverpool have also been linked with Traore this summer, with the Spaniard having two years left to run on his current deal at Molineux.
Jokanovic: Ramsdale ‘not in the right state of mind’ to play
Wednesday 18 August 2021 21:21 , George Flood
How Sheffield United could have done with Ramsdale tonight - they currently trail West Brom 4-0 with half an hour of that game still to go.
Here’s what Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic had to say on his absent goalkeeper ahead of kick-off...
“We felt he’s not ready for the game tonight,” the Serbian said. “We take the decision not to use him.”
Asked if a move was coming, he added: “He’s simply not in the right state of mind and we prefer not to complicate things.”

Flamengo loan Chelsea’s Kenedy
Wednesday 18 August 2021 20:20 , George Flood
Earlier we brought you the news that Flamengo had clinched an agreement with Manchester United to loan Andreas Pereira and were also on the trail of Chelsea’s Kenedy.
That latter deal is now official, with forgotten winger Kenedy heading back to his native Brazil on a season-long loan.
As is customary in these situations for Chelsea, and as we saw with Michy Batshuayi earlier today, the 25-year-old has extended his Blues contract before departing.
Kenedy - signed from Fluminense in 2015 - has previously spent time on loan at Watford, Newcastle, Getafe and Granada.
He has 27 senior Chelsea appearances to his name, but has not played for the club since January 2018.
There are plenty more loan exits from Stamford Bridge coming, with Emerson Palmieri expected to join Lyon.
According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are in talks over Tiemoue Bakayoko and either Fiorentina or Atalanta are poised to move for Davide Zappacosta, while Ike Ugbo is choosing between Genk and Marseille.
Nuno uncertain over Kane involvement vs Wolves
Wednesday 18 August 2021 19:47 , George Flood
Nuno Espirito Santo addressed the media a little earlier this evening as Tottenham prepare to face Pacos de Ferreira in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie.
Harry Kane - who has not travelled to Portugal - was inevitably a hot topic once again, with the Spurs boss yet to decide if he will play against Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.
“I cannot answer that,” Nuno said.
“What I can tell you is he’s better. He’s getting his fitness better and better each day. He worked today, he’s going to work tomorrow and he’s going to join the group on Friday. And on Saturday we’re going to make a decision on who’s going to be involved in the next game.”
Asked whether he had spoken to Kane this week, Nuno added: “We speak with all the players on a daily basis. When we are with them, it is normal to speak with all the players.”

Juventus sign Locatelli
Wednesday 18 August 2021 18:58 , George Flood
One player who won’t be joining Arsenal this month, however, is Manuel Locatelli.
The Italy midfielder had been strongly linked with the Gunners following his excellent displays at Euro 2020, but Juventus quickly took the lead in that particular transfer race.
Indeed, the Bianconeri have now officially wrapped up a deal that will see Locatelli move to Turin from Serie A rivals Sassuolo on an initial two-year loan that includes an obligation to buy for a fee of up to €35.5m.

Arsenal set to strike Ramsdale deal
Wednesday 18 August 2021 18:42 , George Flood
Arsenal look poised to seal two high-profile transfers in the coming days.
With popular ex-loanee Martin Odegaard already set to return from Real Madrid in a permanent £30m deal, The Athletic now report that an agreement has almost been reached with Sheffield United over Aaron Ramsdale.
Arsenal will reportedly pay an initial £24m plus a possible further £6m in add-ons for the England goalkeeper, who is not in the Blades squad to face West Brom in the Championship tonight.
David Ornstein adds that Ramsdale will be offered a four-year contract by Arsenal that includes the option for an additional 12 months.
Fiorentina will consider €100m Vlahovic bid
Wednesday 18 August 2021 17:39 , George Flood
Staying with Vlahovic for a second, Fabrizio Romano has tweeted the following quotes from Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso on the in-demand striker...
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen but I’m planning to keep Vlahovic this summer, I want him to stay,” he told Italian wire service Ansa.
“But if we receive a bid for €100m, I’ll think about it.”
Will any of Vlahovic’s reported suitors be willing to go that high?
Romano adds that defender Nikola Milenkovic is discussing a new deal with Fiorentina after talks collapsed with West Ham, with no bid forthcoming from Tottenham, who apparently stand no chance of enticing Pau Torres from Villarreal.
Man City eye Vlahovic as Kane alternative
Wednesday 18 August 2021 17:21 , George Flood
Now this is interesting/surprising.
Various reports from Italy this afternoon suggest that Manchester City are ready to move for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic as a potential alternative to Harry Kane.
You might remember that the Serbian international has been strongly linked with Spurs already this summer as a possible partner or replacement for Kane, with Atletico Madrid believed to be in the driving seat for his signature.
Vlahovic has netted 31 goals in 85 games for Fiorentina since joining from Partizan Belgrade in 2018, with the Serie A outfit trying to negotiate an extension to a contract that is due to expire in two summers’ time.
Liverpool and Arsenal have also been linked with the 21-year-old in this window.
Pereira poised for Man United loan exit
Wednesday 18 August 2021 16:59 , George Flood
Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is closing in on a move to Brazil.
The 25-year-old - who was born and raised in Belgium but represents the Selecao at international level - is set to join Flamengo on loan, per transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Wednesday 18 August 2021 16:15 , George Flood
Ike Ugbo looks set to be the next youngster to leave Chelsea this summer, with the 22-year-old currently weighing up a move to either Genk or Marseille.
A €5m switch to Genk looked to be all but done in recent weeks until the Ligue 1 side entered the fray.
Marseille have offered a similar fee and after talks this week Ugbo must take time to make his decision.
A deal would move Chelsea’s sales this summer close to £100m.
Lukaku relishing Chelsea leader role
Wednesday 18 August 2021 14:24 , Tom Doyle
Former Everton and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku admitted relishing the responsibility of acting as a Stamford Bridge leader.
“Cesar Azpilicueta’s the captain, he’s been here for many years, he’s a great captain,” he said. “When I was in quarantine he was already messaging me, to help about houses and things like that.
“So in terms of leaders, there are many players that have big personalities in this dressing room. I’m one of the players who likes to connect everybody and make everyone feel comfortable and give them confidence.

Don’t bank on us selling Haaland next summer, says Dortmund boss Rose
Wednesday 18 August 2021 11:34 , Marco Giacomelli
It is not a given that Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, insists coach Marco Rose, especially if the club win silverware this season.
The 21-year-old Norway striker, a Chelsea target in this window before they signed Romelu Lukaku, is under contract until 2024 but a £65m release clause next summer will reignite interest from Europe’s top clubs.
Rose told Sport Bild: "He still has a long-term contract with us. Just because the public is constantly talking about him leaving BVB next summer, that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.
"In the end, Erling has to decide for himself where he sees his future. In any case, we are happy that he is currently playing for us - and, who knows, possibly it’ll be even more than just one season if we write an extraordinary story.”

New Tottenham signings Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero and Bryan Gil are all on their way to Portugal this morning, raising the possibility that the trio could make their full debuts in tomorrow night’s Europa Conference League clash with Pacos de Ferreira
Ryan Sessegnon is also in line to make his first Spurs appearance for over a year but fellow youngster Oliver Skipp has stayed at home following his impressive performance against Manchester City on Sunday.
Palace still want two signings, and will wait to give OIise debut
Wednesday 18 August 2021 10:09 , Marco Giacomelli
Crystal Palace are still looking at signing two players in this window with Watford’s Will Hughes and Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard among their targets.
But one who has already joined, Michael Olise, is set to make his debut after the international break next month.
Midfielder Olise moved from Reading for £8million last month and Palace boss Patrick Vieira is wary of throwing the 19-year-old into Premier League action too quickly.
Vieira’s predecessor Roy Hodgson was just as cautious with the use of Eberechi Eze at the start of last season after the midfielder joined from QPR and it paid off.

A recap from last night’s Telegraph line on Harry Kane then.
Kane was promised at a meeting last summer that he could leave Spurs should the club fail to win a trophy and finish in top four.
Man City have made a bid worth £125m, with Kane believes is enough to trigger his exit, but Daniel Levy is not picking up the phone.
Kane thought he could have an extra week off, but a miscommunication with the club saw confusion over his supposed return date.
Kane is in the squad for the Uefa Europa Conference League play-off fixture against Pacos de Ferreira but is not expected to play.
Nuno Espirito Santo is talking to the media at his pre-match press conference at 6pm BST.
Juve snap up Jorge
Wednesday 18 August 2021 07:11 , Alex Young
Juventus have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Kaio Jorge from Santos.
Kaio Jorge signed a deal until 2026 with the Turin club on Tuesday, two weeks after Santos said Juventus had agreed terms to sign the 19-year-old.
"I am very happy to be here ... It's a big club, one of the biggest in Europe, and it's always been my dream to play for Juve," he said.
Italian media reported Juventus would pay up to €4 million for the player.
Kaio Jorge broke into the Santos first team aged 16, becoming their sixth-youngest league debutant when he made his professional bow in September 2018.

Harry Kane latest updates
Wednesday 18 August 2021 00:00 , George Flood
A fresh batch of Harry Kane stories doing the rounds tonight.
According to the Daily Mail, the England captain feels chairman Daniel Levy has broken a promise by not allowing him to leave Tottenham for Manchester City this summer after Spurs failed to win a trophy or finish in the top four last season.
Kane is reportedly concerned that Levy isn’t engaging in City’s latest attempts to start talks over what would be a British record transfer, with the reigning champions believed to have offered £125m with the August 31 deadline edging closer.
It is now being said that Kane is unlikely to travel to Portugal for Thursday’s Uefa Europa Conference League play-off fixture against Pacos de Ferreira.

Angry Ronaldo breaks silence amid Real Madrid return links
Tuesday 17 August 2021 20:20 , George Flood
Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence amid constant speculation over a move away from Juventus with a strong statement on Instagram.
It had been publicly confirmed earlier by Carlo Ancelotti anyway, but he insists there will be no return to Real Madrid...
“Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career. However, in view of everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position,” Ronaldo wrote.
“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumours, as well as to their players and staff.
“My story at Real Madrid has been written. It’s been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and in headlines. It’s in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it’s also in the minds of every fan of the club.
“And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for “merengue afición”, an affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish. I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine.
“As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with a number of clubs in many different Leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth.
“I’m breaking my silence now to say that I can’t allow people to keep playing around with my name. I remain focused on my career and in my work, committed and prepared for all the challenges that I have to face. Everything else? Everything else is just talk.”

Barcelona’s well-documented financial difficulties could lead to an opportunity for Liverpool it seems.
Reports from Spain suggest that the Reds have been offered the chance to sign exciting La Masia graduate Ilaix Moriba.
However, it has since been claimed that there are 12 teams actively trying to sign the 18-year-old Guinea-born Spanish midfielder, who has made several appearances for Barca’s first team.
Arsenal are among the other clubs to be mentioned in connection with Moriba.

According to Goal, Juventus have reached an agreement with Serie A rivals Sassuolo to take the highly-rated Italy midfielder to Turin.

Tottenham enter Zouma race
Tuesday 17 August 2021 18:04 , George Flood
Earlier today we brought you the news that West Ham were not giving up on their pursuit of Kurt Zouma with Chelsea willing to sell the defender for around £25m, but that his wage demands in excess of £100,000-a-week were proving a stumbling block.
Now Sky Sports claim that Tottenham are also interested in Zouma as they seek further defensive reinforcements following the arrival of Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
Spurs have been linked with a whole host of centre-backs over recent weeks and days, including the likes of Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, Pau Torres of Villarreal and Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu, among countless others.
Chelsea could reportedly yet use Zouma as part of their bid to land Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, meanwhile...
Ramsdale to Arsenal latest
Tuesday 17 August 2021 17:39 , George Flood
Asked if Ramsdale wanted to stay at Bramall Lane, Jokanovic said: “Naturally he wants to be a Premier League player.
“I am talking with him, he believes it can be a good move for himself, but it is not a bad thing for him if he stays with us.
“He is a talented English player and I understand Arsenal are interested, but this is the business. If he is one of the best players in the league, his price is really high and in the end the decision can be with Arsenal if they want him or not. If they want him they need to spend a lot of money.
“If you ask me if I will sell for £100m I would say no. I have no interest in selling the guy but I understand the business side of the club and understand Aaron, too.
“But Aaron understands very well what I want. I explain to him a few times I am not a guy who wants to push him out of the club. If Arsenal want to spend £100m and my word is last I would still say no.
“This is it, but I must be prudent and show some responsibility about club business, too.”
The Serbian added: “I will be disappointed if he leaves the club but it’s part of the realistic situation.
“Arsenal is pushing from one side and I am pulling from a different side.
“This is part of the game. They have more tools than me right now. I cannot pay his contract with this transfer and I am always in a little bit of trouble with this kind of thing.
“Actually right now I am thinking about him as a Sheffield United player because he is a Sheffield United player and we need to recognise that interest exists. That’s it, we will see what happens.
“I will be more satisfied if this guy stays and be part of my team but if it doesn’t happen, I will wish him all the best. Everything will be in the future, but right now he is still our player.”
Jokanovic: Arsenal ‘pushing’ to sign Ramsdale
Tuesday 17 August 2021 17:32 , George Flood
Speaking of Aaron Ramsdale, Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic fielded further questions over the goalkeeper’s future earlier this afternoon as he faced the media ahead of tomorrow night’s Championship trip to face West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Asked if the player would be leaving his boyhood club once again before the deadline, Jokanovic replied: “I don’t know.
“If you ask me if I want him to leave, then no. I am the Sheffield United coach, he’s a Sheffield United player now and it will depend on the club, it will depend on our club and it will depend also Arsenal, too.
“They are the principal club pushing for him. In this moment there does not exist any change, we will see what happens in the future.”
Arsenal back in Ramsdale talks
Tuesday 17 August 2021 16:46 , George Flood
Arsenal have re-entered negotiations with Sheffield United over a deal for Aaron Ramsdale, according to the latest reports on Tuesday.
The Gunners had supposedly seen two bids rejected for the England goalkeeper earlier this summer before talks reached a stalemate with the two clubs miles apart in their respective valuations.
However, The Athletic now report that discussions are back on, with Sheffield United said to be willing to accept a lower-priced deal starting at around £24m.
Arsenal are searching for competition, cover and a potential future successor to current undisputed no1 Bernd Leno, who is out of contract in the summer of 2023.
Estonian teenager Karl Jakob Hein was on the bench for Friday’s Premier League opener at Brentford, with former loanee Mat Ryan now at Real Sociedad and Alex Runarsson not up to standard.

Tuesday 17 August 2021 12:22 , Marco Giacomelli
Harry Kane’s future is no nearer being resolved but he did this morning train with the Tottenham first-team squad for the first time this season.
The striker’s return has been delayed by him having to quarantine after his holiday but all the talk has been whether he will still be at Tottenham or at Manchester City once the transfer window closes.
Rejoining the squad has opened up the possibility he could feature in Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off first leg against Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira or in Sunday’s visit to Wolves in the Premier League.

Atletico closing in on £60m Vlahovic
Tuesday 17 August 2021 10:38 , Marco Giacomelli
Chances of Tottenham or Arsenal landing Dusan Vlahovic look slimmer this morning after Atletico Madrid offered Fiorentina £60m for the Serbia striker.
Il Corriere dello Sport have revealed the bid and say that it just needs the approval of Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso for Vlahovic to move to La Liga.
The paper claims Atletico have reached an agreement with the player’s agent.
Vlahovic hit 21 goals in Serie A last season, prompting interest from the north London rivals with the 21-year-old a possible replacement for Harry Kane at Spurs.
Time is right for Kane to go, says Zabaleta
Tuesday 17 August 2021 10:07 , Marco Giacomelli
Harry Kane has done enough for Tottenham and should join Manchester City, says Pablo Zabaleta.
Given Zabaleta had nearly a decade at the Etihad, it’s no surprise he wants the move but the former right-back believes the time is right for Kane to leave his boyhood club.
Zabaleta told the PA news agency: "We’ll see if the money is there and will splash the money for Harry Kane but will be nice to see him playing for City.
"He’s in the right moment for him to go to a different club and have different experience, when you look at all the top teams they are looking for players who can score 25 goals a season, you always need players like that.
"Obviously Sergio (Aguero) left the club and they only have Gabriel Jesus as a proper striker but we all know the quality of Kane if you want to win trophies and (he) knows he’s done enough for Spurs and wants to move, maybe City are one of those clubs."

Cristiano Ronaldo linking up with Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain? It’s not going to happen, says Fabrizio Romano.
He says PSG are more concerned about keeping Kylian Mbappe, who is in the final year of his contract.
Real Madrid has been touted as potential destination for Mbappe were he to leave PSG where he has scored a remarkable 133 goals in 173 games since joining from Monaco in 2017.

Pogba part of Solskjaer’s’s five-star push
Tuesday 17 August 2021 09:22 , Marco Giacomelli
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to give new contracts to five of his stars — including Paul Pogba, reports The Sun.
The France World Cup winner is in the final season of his agreement and Solskjaer is keen to stop the 28-year-old leaving Old Trafford for a second time.
Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are also deserving of new deals, says Solskjaer.
Fernandes, who hit a hat-trick in the 5-1 rout of Leeds on Saturday, is on £100,000 a week but fresh terms could take that up to £300,000.

And the 25-year-old seems to have caught the eye of Premier League clubs with Burnley and Wolves said to be looking at him.
Dickie joined Rangers only a year ago from Oxford but shone in his debut season in the Championship, with both his team-mates and supporters giving him their Player of the Year titles.
Wages holding up West Ham’s move for Zouma
Tuesday 17 August 2021 08:39 , Marco Giacomelli
There is work to be done if West Ham are to get Kurt Zouma with the Chelsea centre-back seeking more than £100,000 a week.
The Hammers were impressive in their 4-2 win at Newcastle on Sunday but had to come from behind twice and David Moyes is keen to strengthen his defence with at least one addition before the window closes.
He would like Zouma to be that player but the £25m deal but is only likely to happen if the wage demands come down.

Tuesday 17 August 2021 07:59 , Malik Ouzia
The Mirror are reporting that Arsenal’s hopes of signing Martin Odegaard are on track, with the player’s representatives having arrived in London for talks.
The report claims that a one-year loan deal is to be discussed after which the Gunners would have a £30m option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
Arsenal have ramped up their interest in Odegaard, who spent the latter part of last season at the Emirates, after selling Joe Willock to Newcastle last week.

Ferdinand backs Saul or Rice for Man United switch
Monday 16 August 2021 22:54 , George Flood
Rio Ferdinand has backed Manchester United to sign either Saul Niguez or Declan Rice this summer...
“I think if the right player becomes available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go and get him,” the Old Trafford legend recently told his FIVE YouTube channel.
“The problem is who is out there and who could be a good fit? Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit and he’s asking price was £160m a couple of years ago, now it’s more like £40-50m.
“In today’s game that’s a decent price for someone like him who has Champions League experience. I’m a big fan of his. If you can get him in this window, I think you do it.
“I think Declan Rice would be a massive addition to this squad. I’m a massive fan of his. I would love to see him keep progressing.
“He was brilliant for England in the summer. I think if West Ham keep him they’ve done unbelievably well. I think he does well staying at West Ham or if he goes.”
Barcelona eye Coutinho for Aubameyang swap
Monday 16 August 2021 22:43 , George Flood
The Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona rumours are circulating again tonight.
Sky Sports claim that the LaLiga giants - whose president Joan Laporta confirmed earlier on Monday that the club’s debt levels had risen to a whopping £1.15bn - are interested in the Gunners skipper and are willing to offer Philippe Coutinho in a swap deal, having missed out on Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
Aubameyang only signed a lucrative new three-year contract at Arsenal last summer, but he has flattered to deceive since then and The Times suggested last week that the club are now willing to listen to offers for their captain.
The Gabon star did not feature in Friday’s Premier League curtain-raiser at Brentford due to illness.
Tottenham make Nandez approach
Monday 16 August 2021 22:36 , George Flood
Some late Tottenham transfer news to bring you on this Monday night.
According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Tottenham have made an approach to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.
The versatile Uruguayan international, 25, has also been linked with West Ham and Leeds this summer after a proposed move to Inter Milan collapsed.
Lyon make contact over Chelsea’s Emerson
Monday 16 August 2021 21:56 , George Flood
Chelsea’s need to trim an enormous squad is obvious and they are evidently working towards that end as the August 31 transfer deadline gets closer.
The likes of Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi and Ike Ugbo are all on the way out this week, while Emerson Palmieri is expected to follow.
According to French publication L’Equipe, Ligue 1 outfit Lyon have made contact with Chelsea over the Italian international as they seek to add a new left-back to Peter Bosz’s squad.
Despite winning Euro 2020 with the Azzurri this summer, Emerson has long since been restricted to a bit-part role at Chelsea.
Agent: Arsenal and Spurs target Lautaro going nowhere
Monday 16 August 2021 20:34 , George Flood
Any hopes either Arsenal or Tottenham had of luring Lautaro Martinez away from Inter Milan before this month’s transfer deadline appear to be over.
The Argentine has been linked with both north London rivals as Mikel Arteta looks to increase his options up top and Spurs under Nuno Espirito Santo attempt to sign either a suitable partner or replacement for Harry Kane.
Inter’s owners have been hit particularly hard during the Covid-19 pandemic, but the chances of Lautaro being allowed to depart in the same window as ex-San Siro strike partner Romelu Lukaku always looked highly questionable, especially with the likes of Achraf Hakimi having also departed.
Now the 23-year-old’s agent has also reiterated that his client will be remaining in Milan as he looks to agree an extension to a contract that is due to expire in the summer of 2023.
“Lautaro wants to stay at Inter, he trusts the project and wants to win,” Alejandro Camano told FC Inter News.
“I’ll meet with Inter board on Wednesday to talk about his contract situation.
“Premier League clubs wanted him but he’s ready to stay.”

West Ham still hopeful over ‘special’ Lingard
Monday 16 August 2021 19:41 , George Flood
In case you missed it earlier, West Ham assistant Stuart Pearce appeared on talkSPORT reiterating the club’s desire to seal a return to east London for Jesse Lingard.
The Manchester United and England midfielder rejuvenated his career with a wonderful loan spell with the Hammers in the second half of last term, helping to seal a top-six finish and place in the Europa League.
He has since returned to parent club Manchester United, where he is out of contract next summer and did not make the matchday squad on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side thrashed rivals Leeds 5-1 at Old Trafford.
“We would like him to come and join us,” Pearce said of Lingard on Monday. “That has been an open secret. He was wonderful last year.
“The ball is in Manchester United’s court. He is contracted to them. We would like him with us, there is no doubt about that.
“He’s a special lad and was very good around the players – the players really like him.
“His ability shone out last year and gave us a great option in our squad. You never know, but at this moment in time it looks like he is fighting for a place in the United line-up.”
Tottenham await Vlahovic decision
Monday 16 August 2021 19:27 , George Flood
Tottenham are reportedly awaiting Fiorentina’s decision on the future of striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian international has been strongly linked with Spurs, who are said to have entered into a bidding war with LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid amid the ongoing Harry Kane saga.
Now Alfredo Pedulla reports that a bid of between €60m-€65m could be enough to land Vlahovic, with seemingly no progress regarding contract talks between the forward and Fiorentina.
Tottenham are also claimed to be trying to seal the signing of Vlahovic’s team-mate and compatriot Nikola Milenkovic, a defender also wanted by London rivals West Ham.
Bayern struggling to find new players, says Nagelsmann
Monday 16 August 2021 18:58 , George Flood
Much has been made recently in Germany of Bayern Munich’s inability to conduct major transfer business this summer, with new boss Julian Nagelsmann admitting that the reigning Bundesliga champions are struggling to sign players in such a tough, slow-moving market heavily impacted by Covid-19.
Only Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards and Sven Ulreich have joined Bayern so far in this current window, with the latter two deals free transfers.
The Bavarians were held to a 1-1 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach in their 2021/22 Bundesliga opener on Friday night and next face Borussia Dortmund - who thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-2 - in the German Supercup tomorrow evening.
“We could not spend all the money we would like to spend. In the end, we have a good squad, but it’s always about injuries,” Nagelsmann said ahead of that eagerly-anticipated clash.
He added: “If you see the last two seasons, we lose a lot of players. It’s not that easy to try to find, always try to find good players.
“The transfer market is hard. We could not spend a lot of money.”
Batshuayi to seal latest Chelsea exit
Monday 16 August 2021 18:21 , George Flood
Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is closing in on a move to Besiktas, reports claim.
According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Belgian international is due in Istanbul this evening to wrap up his season-long loan switch to the Turkish capital and undergo a medical.
Batshuayi has long seemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, being dispatched for loan spells at Crystal Palace, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund over recent seasons.
We are still waiting for official confirmation of Tammy Abraham’s £34m switch to Roma, while Romano also reports that a third Chelsea forward, Ike Ugbo, will leave Stamford Bridge for Belgian side Genk on a permanent transfer this week.
Lukaku on Drogba role in Chelsea return
Monday 16 August 2021 17:10 , George Flood
Circling back to Lukaku, he has also revealed the role close friend and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba played in his return to Stamford Bridge.
“Our relationship means the world to me,” he said. “It’s not like we talk once a month, I talk to the guy every few days!
“We have a group chat so we’re constantly communicating and I’ve been on the phone with him a bit more in the past two weeks.
“I had a lot of questions to ask and he still knows a lot of people here so he really prepared me well with the last details.
“Now I just need to get to know the players and the manager a bit better and just be available as quickly as possible for the team.”
Laird and Clarkson make Championship loan moves
Monday 16 August 2021 16:56 , George Flood
A couple of loan deals have been struck and officially signed off this afternoon.
Manchester United have loaned highly-rated young full-back Ethan Laird to Swansea.
20-year-old Laird - who has made two senior United appearances to date - will once again play under Russell Martin, having spent time at MK Dons last season.
Meanwhile, staying in the Championship, Liverpool have allowed Leighton Clarkson to move to Blackburn.
The 19-year-old midfielder has three first-team outings to his name under Jurgen Klopp, who will hope he can make a similar impact at Ewood Park to that of fellow teenager Harvey Elliott in 2020/21.
