A Victorian-era hotel in Llandudno has been brought firmly up to date with an extensive refurbishment. Cae Mor Hotel, on the resort's promenade, has now begun welcoming back guests.

The 22-bedroom hotel this week (June 21) unveiled a new, modern look after a redesign. Its owners said the investment has created 20 new jobs.

Originally opened in 1890, the hotel was placed on the market in 2021 with an asking price of £1.25m. Being located next door to Venue Cymru, the three-star site now aims to attract business delegates and people attending conferences and concerts - as well as families wanting to explore the resort.

General manager Nicola said: "We look forward to going above and beyond for our guests to ensure our standards match our new look. Llandudno is a thriving destination, and it’s our goal to continue promoting this fantastic destination, encouraging footfall, and welcoming guests from far and wide to this fabulous town.

“Although it’s a Victorian gem, it’s our responsibility to bring it into the modern era, and we feel we have done this by combining the building’s original charm with some much-needed modern conveniences.”

The Conwy hotel’s 1890 Restaurant & Bar has also been revamped. Offering luxury fine dining, the menu aims to highlight “the best of Welsh cuisine”, using locally sourced ingredients.

Of the hotel's 22 rooms, 15 offer coastline views. Convenience is another big selling point for the hotel, said Nicola. “Cae Mor Hotel boasts spacious car parking facilities on the promenade, which is something that’s coveted by many of our guests.

The hotel said local suppliers and tradespeople were used for the refurbishment. Ultimately, the redesign was aimed at “portraying Llandudno as a vibrant, welcoming resort for young families”, it said – one that strengthened Llandudno’s status as a “town of revival and growth”.

Cae Mor’s transformation marks a new chapter in the hotel’s 134-year history. For more information or to make a reservation, visit the hotel’s website. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
