Translink announce extra bus services to Belfast International Airport for busy summer period

Translink have announced additional bus services to a Belfast airport during the peak summer period.

Enhanced services to Belfast International Airport will operate this summer, with Airport Express 300 services operating every 12 minutes during peak times, from Monday to Friday, to cater for extra holiday demand. Translink has also announced a special family ticket for the Airport Express 300 service during the busy summer period.

The extra services mean there will be an additional 2,400 seats on buses available per week, with five buses every hour between 6am and 9.30am then in the evening peak period between 4pm and 6pm. Airport bus services from Translink operate from 1am to 10.30pm from Belfast Europa Bus Centre, and from 1.50am until 11.30pm from Belfast International Airport.

Translink’s Director of Commercial Operations, David Cowan said: “Our Airport Express Service offers a comfortable, hassle-free and inexpensive way to travel to and from Belfast International airport.

"To meet summer holiday demand, we have increased frequency on our 300 Airport Express Service to every 12 minutes, with an extra 2,400 seats per week. We are running five buses every hour between 6.00 and 9.30am and then in the evening peak between 4.00pm and 6.00pm.

"Outside of these hours, our Airport 300 services operate approximately every 15 minutes during the day. During the summer months our 300 services operate from 1.00am until 10.30pm from Belfast Europa BusCentre and from 1.50am until 11.30pm from Belfast International Airport.

"We are also offering our passengers special One-Month family return tickets from now until 31st August on Airport Express 300 services between Belfast City Centre and Belfast International Airport.

"The Airport Express 300 Family Return Ticket is £28.50 and available for 2 adults and up to 3 children. Children under 5 years of age travel free with their family, while additional children (under 16) will be charged at £4.50”.

Translink also operate services to Belfast International Airport from Antrim Bus and Rail Centre. People travelling to the airport from the North-West can use the train from all stops between the North-West Transport Hub and Antrim and connect with the frequent 109A service.

Dan Owens, CEO, Belfast International Airport said: “We are preparing for one of our busiest periods of the year and expect to welcome around 1.5m passengers through Belfast International over the next couple of months.

"We want to ensure that passengers have an enjoyable experience before their holiday begins and have recruited extra staff to manage increased numbers. We welcome Translink’s enhanced services, now at over 150 services to and from the airport daily, it is an affordable and efficient travel option for people this summer.

"If you are planning to travel this summer, passengers need to organise travel to the Airport and parking in advance and be prepared for security as you normally would, making sure any liquids are within the 100 ml limit. Following this advice will make a big difference for anyone travelling through the terminal.”
