A group of Travellers which set up camp at Truro Park and Ride overflow car park earlier this week has now vacated the site - and moved onto a playing field just a mile away. The encampment arrived at Tregurra Park and Ride, on the outskirts of Truro, on Monday (July 8), consisting of around 15 caravans and associated vehicles.

Police attended the scene on Monday afternoon to speak with the group, but confirmed that no criminal offences were associated with the matter at that time. Cornwall Council told CornwallLive it was aware of the group and had started the legal process to remove them.

But now the group has moved on from the Park and Ride car park nest to Waitrose - to Tremorvah Playing Fields, just over a mile away in a residential area of the city next to Truro Magistrates' Court.

Cornwall Council says it is aware of the situation and is working with Truro City Council - which is responsible for the fields where it hosts its annual Bonfire Night fireworks events - to resolve the matter.

A statement from the council said: "Cornwall Council is aware of an encampment at Tremovah Playing Fields. The Council is supporting Truro City Council in relation to this matter.

"The overflow car park at Tregurra Park and Ride has been vacated. There has been no disruption to the park and ride service."
