Travis Kelce Hypes Up Russell Wilson After the QB Signs with Steelers: 'Lot of Good Football Left in Him'
"Shoutout to Russ, man. Get another new start," the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said
Russell Wilson has a fellow NFL star in his corner — Travis Kelce.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared his candid thoughts on Wilson signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers following his release from the Denver Broncos on the latest episode of his New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast.
"Shoutout to Russ, man. Get another new start," said Kelce after his brother Jason read a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter indicating that Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Steelers.
After Jason complimented the Steelers' defense, Travis noted that Wilson "had a similar situation" when he played for the Seattle Seahawks, before his shorter stint with the Broncos.
"He had a similar situation in Seattle. Great defense. Get you a run game. Got Najee Harris in there to hand that ball off to and got a young tight end in Pat [Freiermuth]," said Travis, while adding that the team also has a "bunch of good young wide receivers."
"Hopefully we see him have some more success knowing that the Broncos wasn't his best time spent," he continued.
Wilson originally signed a five-year contract with the Broncos before being cut from the team after two seasons.

"It's tough to know what happened out there in Denver," said Jason, to which Travis agreed, expressing that "it wasn't as much as a mesh as everyone thought it was going to be."
"Russell gets to start fresh here in Pittsburgh. He's had proven success in his past," added Jason, referring to Wilson as "the only missing piece" for the Steelers.
"If Russ is even close to the quarterback he used to be, this is an extremely dangerous team with what they're working on the defensive side of the ball," he continued.

"I don't even know about what he used to be," Travis responded. "I've seen that guy. He was still balling in Denver at times. I've seen him dice up some teams and make some good throws."
After recalling a loss that the Chiefs had against the Broncos, he said that he thinks "Russ has a lot of good football left in him."
"Obviously, he's got that it factor about him that we've seen so many times, and sure enough, he'll bring some veteran presence to that locker room. And we all know how good of a coach [Mike] Tomlin is and how good that defense is," continued Travis. "Steelers definitely just got better, for sure."
Wilson confirmed reports that he's heading to the Steelers by sharing a video on X and Instagram featuring a Steelers highlight reel.
