Tribute album for Sophie Lancaster Foundation to be released

A tribute album is being released to raise money for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

Metal Band Aid is made up of 18 musicians who are due to play at Depravation Festival 2024.

The foundation said: “All the musicians, have come together and worked extremely hard on this amazing project.

"They are now asking for your support to donate what you can to download the song; 100 per cent of donations will go directly to the foundation.

“We are so grateful for the support we receive and cannot thank all those involved enough for the effort and time they put into this project.”

The band have taken inspiration from `Live Aid` and all of profits will be donated to the foundation`

The Depravation Festival is a three-day indoor event in the heart of Swindon and hosted in the town’s most iconic music venue Levels and The Rolleston Arms.

The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, set up by mum Sylvia, was established as a lasting legacy and works to promote tolerance and acceptance for others.

Sophie Lancaster was attacked by a gang of five boys in a park in Bacup, Lancashire on 11 August 2007 because of her appearance as part of the goth subculture.

The gang attacked Sophie’s boyfriend first and then turned on her, carrying out a brutal and sustained attack.

Sophie remained in hospital for 13 days, before following medical advice, the family agreed to life support being switched off when she was just 20 years old.
