Yahoo News Tribute paid to 'loving and caring' man, 40, who died after being hit by car
The family of a 'much-loved' 40-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in Tameside have paid a touching tribute to him.
The crash happened on Stockport Road in the Ashton-under-Lyne area at around 11.55pm last Wednesday (April 24). Officers responded to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and car, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
Tragically, the pedestrian - a 40-year-old man - died in the incident. Police have now named him as Shaun Davies.
His family described him as 'kind, caring and loving' as they paid a heartfelt tribute to a 'much-loved son, brother and uncle'. In full, the tribute released today (April 29), said: "We sadly lost our beloved brother Shaun to a hit and run on the 24th April.
"He was a much-loved son, brother and uncle. Shaun was such a beautiful kind person who had a loving and caring character to him.
"He brought laughter and smiles to anyone he was around. As it was a very unexpected death to the family we have set up a GoFundMe page to give Shaun the send off he deserves.
"Us as a family ask for privacy at this time to grieve in peace. Thank you."
A 29-year-old man was arrested on the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Police said a 23-year-old man later himself in.
He was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both have since been released on bail as investigations into the incident continue.
After the crash on Wednesday evening, a cordon was put in place on Stockport Road near to the junction with William Street. Pictures showed officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit carrying out work within the cordon as the road was closed for several hours.
Debris from the incident could be seen on the road. A Specialist Operations Incident Command van was also pictured on the scene.
