We tried a 'full English wrap' at popular café and it was an utter revelation

Few meals set you up for the day better than a full English breakfast.

Whether you opt for one in the hope that the stodge will soak up an excess of alcohol from the night before or because the protein-packed plate helps to boost muscle at the gym it's a treat most of us only allow ourselves once in a while.

In Fleetwood, the café at Farmer Parr's Animal World has recently undergone a refurb, and the spacious and modern interior attracts visitors in its own right. The café is open seven days a week from 9am until 5pm with last orders at 3.45pm.

There's plenty to choose from on the breakfast menu; whether it's a full English - or the larger, Chef John's 'mega breakfast' - as well as dishes for smaller appetites such as eggs on toast, a toasted teacake or a croissant.

Prices are a tad higher than you'd find at a greasy spoon caff but this is no greasy spoon. For a full English (sausage, bacon, egg, beans, hash brown, tomato, fried mushrooms and toast) it's £7.50 while beans on toast is £5.95.

While all of our group opted for the traditional full English my daughter's choice of a breakfast wrap got all the stares. It was presented perfectly for a photo opp and the contents were neatly wound up in a soft tortilla wrap.

While brekkie lovers might bemoan the lack of beans or tomatoes with which to dip a piece of toast into the breakfast wrap provided the 'cleaner' option with next to no risk of spillage. And for a nine-year-old girl that's ideal.

Every single mouthful contained some of the key ingredients of sausage, bacon, egg and hash brown, and at £6.50 it's a pound cheaper than the deconstructed alternative. Instead of either having to choose between the contents, or try to squash a bit of everything in one forkful, at Farmer Parr's you can have the best of both worlds.
