Kate Middleton is known for adhering to a healthy lifestyle and her diet is no exception. To keep her going through royal events The Princess of Wales reportedly kicks off her day with a hearty bowl of oats.

The athletic princess is a reported fan of slow-burn energy oats, which a nutritionist from BarBend suggests "keeps Kate satiated and provides enough energy for Royal duties, workouts, and looking after her three children".

They added that oatmeal, or porridge, was not only "a delicious breakfast food, but also very filling," and it promoted weight loss. Oats are recognised for their cholesterol-lowering and blood sugar-controlling properties, and research suggests they can also alleviate post-workout muscle soreness, WalesOnline reports.

Also weighing in on the benefits of having oats for breakfast, an expert from Bulk.com said: "They are full of vitamins, minerals and soluble fibre, which is especially great for those with diabetes as they can help lower glucose and cholesterol levels," adding that oats "are the perfect all-rounder because they are also gluten-free and can be eaten sweet or savoury".

Taking inspiration from the Princess’s breakfast routine, Andrea Blazquez, a reporter for our sister publication the Express, put it to the test by tucking into oats every morning for an entire week, aiming to observe any noticeable changes.

In just under a week, she astonishingly shed nearly 300g (close to one pound), attributing this weight loss to the oats' satiating quality, which conveniently curbed unnecessary snacking throughout the day.

She said: "The healthy and delicious breakfast was so filling that I wasn't that hungry at lunchtime which encouraged me to opt for a healthier option, like a salad. Having a varied breakfast, combining oats with seeds, nuts and fruit, also motivated me to make other healthy choices during the day and eat a balanced and moderate diet."
