If you haven’t yet caught a whiff of the sugary cinnamon aromas wafting around the streets of London, then you’re in for a treat. That sweetly-scented air, reminiscent of grandma’s baking, comes from the delightful Buns from Home bakeries located all across London.

I first fell victim to these alluring scents after a day of browsing at Notting Hill's Portobello Road Market. Located on Talbot Road, I stumbled upon their bakery and found myself devouring a classic cinnamon roll within minutes. Their flaky, golden pastry filled with a sweet muscovado sugar and cinnamon paste, and topped with a crispy, caramelised glaze transported me straight to food heaven.

The Financial Times ranks Buns from Home as the top bakery to visit for London’s most delicious cinnamon rolls and I have to agree, as this hotspot is guaranteed to have you closing your eyes in bliss and craving more. Founded by Barney Goff in 2020, Buns from Home is a family-owned bakery that first started in Notting Hill and has since expanded across London.

Beginning as another lockdown baking project, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Goff started baking buns in his mother’s kitchen for his neighbours as means to generate income and also entertain himself during the first lockdown. However in a matter of weeks, he found himself overwhelmed with orders and the rest is history.

Using a laminated croissant dough, the buns are hand-rolled and shaped to create their entire menu and filled with sweet and savoury fillings. The bakery specialises in delectable buns, offering a variety of flavours including cinnamon, cardamom, and chocolate-hazelnut. For those seeking unique treats, they also offer exclusive options like mixed berry cheesecake, tiramisu, and even savoury buns for those cutting back on sugar.

A single bun costs £3.50 while a box of six will cost you £18. You can also custom order if you are looking to fill your homes with an endless supply of buns. If you're as obsessed with cinnamon rolls as I am, then I would definitely recommend the classic cinnamon roll.

These are also available as a vegan-friendly alternative, however, I would suggest checking which locations offer these beforehand as on multiple occasions I have visited the Covent Garden branch and been disappointed to find they have none in stock. No one likes a dry bun. But no need to worry as Buns from Home have given themselves a three-hour window to sell their buns from the moment they leave their ovens, to ensure we get the freshest treats every day.

With 16 locations across London, including Canary Wharf, Marylebone, Notting Hill, and Covent Garden, and a new spot opening soon in Bond Street, you’ll be lucky if you have one of these storefronts located near you. Did I mention how they also deliver to multiple locations via Deliveroo? So if you would prefer to order from your sofa, your perfect bun can be delivered in under an hour and is only a few taps away from your doorstep.
