Vicky McClure has opened up about taking on a new role in the second season of ITV drama Trigger Point.

The Line of Duty star serves as an executive producer on the second season, in which she reprises the role of protagonist Lana Washington, an Afghan War veteran leading a Met Police bomb disposal squad.

Speaking about being an executive producer, McClure explained she's always been "nosey" on set and taking on more responsibilities felt like a natural progression for her.

"To be honest, I'm always into that kind of stuff. I'm very nosey as Jed [Mercurio, executive producer of Trigger P0int and creator of Line of Duty] will tell you. I like to read the entire call sheet," McClure told Digital Spy and other press.

"I'm not one of those people who doesn't know what's going on. I like to know exactly what's going on."

McClure said she wanted to be able to contribute to the script in her new role, as well as make sure to create a collaborative atmosphere on set.

"When it comes to exec producing, I just want to be able to input into the script, I want to be able to input onto casting and the day to day of a set and making sure everyone's happy and making sure we're having a good time," she said.

"I'm there every day and it means I can see what's going on and thankfully Jed and Jimmy [Mulville, exec producer of Trigger Point] and everyone have been amazing and just sort of offered it to me in a way that they know it would have been a good thing to do. I'm not just doing it for the credit.

"It was something that I was really passionate about and have done on other jobs now so it's gaining my experience."

It seems that McClure went above and beyond to ensure everyone was in a good mood on set, confirming rumours of the star buying a Greggs van for cast and crew.

"That's just the done thing. These lot are like, 'Vicky, where's the coffee?' and I'm like, 'Just leave it with me,' this is where I can really [shine]," she said.

Trigger Point season 2 will premiere at 9pm on ITV1 on January 28.
