Our trip to see Taylor Swift went All Too Well after ditching hotel for Airbnb

Getting tickets to see Taylor Swift was one thing, but trying to find accommodation during her Eras Tour in Edinburgh was something else.

With no hotels available, we decided to book an Airbnb for the very first time and it couldn't have worked out better.

The whole concept of Airbnb is that you're renting a home, or a stay in someone's home, either short or long term, with all sorts of experiences available.

Our three-bed apartment is one of the site's Guest Favourites - those given a rating of 4.8 and above - and from as soon as we arrived, it was easy to see why.

Our host had already been in touch before our arrival and quickly responded to our last-minute questions such as 'do you have an iron?'. He'd asked us to message him when we were an hour away and was there to greet us with the keys on arrival and quickly show us around the place.

The four of us had so much space and with two double beds and two singles, it was the ideal set-up for either a family or a group of friends.

The apartment had everything we needed, including a kitchen with all the appliances, that all-important wi-fi for the kids and two bathrooms, which makes things a lot easier when there are two teenage girls getting glammed up to see their idol perform.

Scarred by a previous nightmare train journey home from last year's Harry Styles concert, this time we'd decided to drive, so the free secure car park space in the garage beneath the apartment was a godsend.

We left it there for our afternoon trip to Edinburgh however, as there was a bus stop just outside the accommodation, which got us into the city centre in just 20 minutes.

I thought it might feel strange staying in an Airbnb as opposed to a hotel, but it was much more homely, the beds were so comfy and helped us all get a decent night's sleep before the long-awaited concert at Murrayfield Stadium.

Staying here made me realise the many benefits to picking this kind of stay over a traditional hotel. And Airbnb's latest TV commercial - focusing on how sharing a hotel room with your kid also means sharing a bedtime with your kid - is probably one of its biggest selling points for those with little ones.

The whole stay was so relaxing and it's definitely an option I'll consider for future trips. I'm not sure any concert will ever be as big as Taylor's and this apartment set the bar high for other places, but with five million hosts to choose from across the globe I'm sure there's something to fulfil even the wildest of dreams.
