A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash on a main road. The incident took place on Friday afternoon (May 3) on Tritton Road, Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police attended the scene, where a van and motorbike had collided. The road was closed for around an hour between the between the Dixon Street junction and Skellingthorpe Road.

The extent of the injuries suffered by the motorcyclist are unknown. Lincolnshire Police say they will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Lincolnshire Police said: "The road has now been reopened and we'd like to thank everyone for their patience. The rider of the motorcycle has been taken to hospital for treatment, and we will be investigating the cause of the collision."

The road had been closed for around an hour on Friday afternoon, with heavy traffic reported due to the incident. Initially describing the crash, the force said: "Tritton Road in Lincoln is closed in both directions between the Dixon Street junction and Skellingthorpe Road following a collision involving a motorcycle and a van, please avoid the area. We’ll share more details when we have them."
