Truck jumps railroad tracks to avoid oncoming car

LEVEL PLAINS, Ala (WDHN) — A driver had a close call Thursday morning after going airborne over train tracks in Level Plains to avoid a head-on crash.

According to Level Plains Police, the man swerved off County Road 445 to avoid another vehicle entering his lane.

A Level Plains Volunteer Fire Department post said when the driver swerved, he jumped the railroad tracks “Dukes of Hazard style” and landed in the woods. The driver was not injured in the crash.

The crash occurred around 10:15 a.m.and emergency units were called to the scene.

After arriving, volunteer firefighters found the truck partially buried in the thick foliage and used a chainsaw to uncover it.

A tow truck arrived and pulled the vehicle up the embankment.
