Trump knocks Pelosi after ‘dangerous’ and ‘evil’ remarks

Former President Trump took aim at former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after she called him “dangerous” and “evil” Sunday following his false claims about the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks.

In two Sunday interviews, Pelosi hit Trump over his comments during the debate last week for blaming her for the lack of security around the Capitol on Jan. 6.

She said on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” that he lied during the debate, saying it was Trump “who would not send the National Guard” to the Capitol.

“What he did on Jan. 6 — people died or were hurt. This is a dangerous person, and evil,” she said Sunday on MSNBC.

She also pushed back on his comments during CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“This president — look, he lied about Jan. 6. This was a horrible event in our country’s history. He was an ex-president of the United States who instigated an insurrection. He tries to blame it on me,” she said Sunday.

Trump took to social media to respond to Pelosi’s comments.

“Crazy Nancy Pelosi, who the other day was exposed by her daughter, a filmmaker, as being fully responsible for the lack of security on January 6th is, in my opinion, more cognitively impaired than Crooked Joe Biden,” he wrote on Truth Social.

“I just watched her do an interview, and she was way ‘off.’ Additionally, she is suffering from TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS, and her case is terminal! She is a sick ‘puppy,’ and always has been!!!” he continued.

During the debate Thursday, Trump said Pelosi turned down his offer to send 10,000 additional troops to the Capitol on Jan. 6. The New York Times’s fact checks of the debate said this comment was misleading, noting the Speaker at the time did not have the authority to do so.

“And Nancy Pelosi, if you just watch the news from two days ago, on tape to her daughter — who’s a documentary filmmaker, as they say — what she’s saying, ‘Oh, no, it’s my responsibility, I was responsible for this.’ Because I offered her 10,000 soldiers or National Guard, and she turned them down,” Trump said Thursday.

The New York Times reported Trump was referencing a video recently released by the GOP-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee that was filmed by Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandria, for a documentary about the former Speaker. It shows her talking about the security for Jan. 6 while in a car.

At one point in the video, Pelosi could be heard saying she “take[s] responsibility for not having them prepare for more, because it’s stupid because we’re in a situation like this.” She also questioned why the National Guard “wasn’t there to begin with.”

The full footage has not been released publicly, and she did not admit in the short video that she turned down any additional troops. Ian Krager, spokesperson for Pelosi, hit back at Trump’s comments, saying the former Speaker “is not in charge of the security of the Capitol Complex.”

“It’s pathetic that, three years later, Trump and his MAGA allies are still trying to whitewash the deadly insurrection. The American people saw for themselves the dangers to democracy on January 6th and can see right through Republicans’ revisionist history,” he added.
