Trump lawyer calls Cohen the ‘MVP of liars’

NEW YORK — Trump attorney Todd Blanche hammered prosecutors’ star witness, Michael Cohen, as a repeated liar during closing arguments in former President Trump’s criminal trial on Tuesday, even accusing Cohen of committing perjury during his recent testimony.

“He’s literally like an MVP of liars,” Blanche said. “He lies constantly. He’s lied to Congress, he lied to prosecutors, he lied to his family, business associates.”

Cohen, Trump’s ex-fixer and personal attorney, made the $130,000 hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels at the center of Trump’s case. Cohen has since turned against his former boss and expressed a desire to see him punished over the payment.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) accuses Trump of falsifying business records to cover up the payment as part of a criminal conspiracy to influence the 2016 election. Trump pleaded not guilty and has denied any wrongdoing.

Above all else, Blanche on Tuesday attempted to convince jurors that Trump is not implicated in the case without Cohen’s testimony and that his account cannot be trusted.

Blanche noted that Cohen has admitted to lying under oath and insisted there were falsehoods in his testimony during Trump’s ongoing trial.

As he finished his closing, Blanche asked jurors if they were familiar with the acronym “GOAT,” meaning “Greatest of All Time,” and name-dropping athletes Michael Jordan and Tom Brady.

“Michael Cohen is the GLOAT. He’s literally the Greatest Liar of All Time,” Blanche said.
