Trump welcomes Kazakhstan president to White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has welcomed Kazakhstan's president to the White House.

The White House has said Trump and Nursultan Nazarbayev (nur-sul-TAHN' nah-sar-BAH'-yev) will discuss ways to strengthen their partnership on security and economic issues.

Kazakhstan also holds the rotating presidency on the U.N. Security Council. The White House said the leaders are also expected to discuss international challenges during its tenure heading the council, particularly with respect to Afghanistan. Non-proliferation issues are also on the agenda.

The leaders will meet in the Oval Office before delivering scheduled statements to the press.

Trump and Nazarbayev are to continue their talks over a working lunch.
