Hull FC's search for a new head coach is ongoing, and while that search continues, the list of candidates grows and grows. However, despite reports suggesting the contrary, Hull Live has been told categorically by sources at the club that no formal offer has made to any coach since Paul Rowley.

The Black and Whites made a high-profile move for the Salford Red Devils head coach last month, but, despite advanced negotiations taking place, were unsuccessful in their pursuit to lure him to the club. That would have been the 'short and swift' appointment that owner Adam Pearson spoke of, but it wasn't to be.

Since then, it has been reported that offers have been made to the likes of Lee Briers and Brian McDermott, who are currently working as assistant coaches at NRL clubs Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights, and Paul Crarey, who is head coach at Championship outfit Barrow Raiders, but that is not the case.

Instead, Hull Live understands that Hull FC are keeping their counsel with regards to their search and not rushing into any rash decision, with the position still vacant following the departure of Tony Smith. In the meantime, Simon Grix is in interim charge of the club, with the 38-year-old also an option to take the job on a permanent basis.

It is understood that Grix is well-liked within the club, from players to officials, and is currently making his own case as he looks to improve the side, who head to Wimbledon's Cherry Red Records Stadium to take on London Broncos on Sunday. Grix remains a strong candidate for the Black and Whites, who are looking to find the right appointment that fits in with their beliefs and identities.

Of course, the club are also talking to other people regarding the role, and are believed to have held conversations with current Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam, who is out of contract at the end of the year. However, that is all they are: conversations.

Hull are also understood to prefer a British candidate that knows the ins and outs of Super League, and while Hull Live's understanding is that Grix is the current favourite, that doesn't rule out other options as the club continue their search.
