Mrs Brown's Boys season 4, 9.30 pm, BBC One/iPlayer (box set)

Debra Stephenson (Coronation Street, Spitting Image) gets a chance to showcase her funny genes tonight as Anita, a childhood friend of Cathy’s who emigrated to America in the 1980s. Back in Dublin to give a genealogy lecture at Trinity College, Anita offers to do a DNA test so Cathy (Jennifer Gibney) can trace her ancestry. But, as Mrs Brown recalls the night her daughter was conceived, she begins to fear that her late husband might not be Cathy’s father! To complicate matters, Winnie (Eilish O’Carroll) has interpreted Agnes’ secret worry as proof that she’s won the lottery – which leads to Mrs Brown being very popular among the locals!

Puppy School for Guide Dogs, 8 pm, Channel 5/My5 (box set)

As this delightful series draws to a close, there are big changes for both the pups and owners. While Paralympic hopeful Hester learns if she and Pickle have passed their assessment, puppy Kinky who was born with a broken tail is examined to see if it will affect her ability to become a guide dog. We also meet other assistance dogs, including Poppy ,who is trained to alert her diabetic owner if her blood sugar levels drop, and Riley, who, despite being too timid to be a guide dog, makes a perfect buddy for 12-year-old Isaac. And cutest of all, we see eight-week-old Crumble being prepped for a photo shoot for a sponsor-a-puppy campaign. Who can resist those puppy-dog eyes?

Hank Williams: Honky Tonk Blues/ I Saw the Light, from 10.30 pm, BBC Four

He was only 29 when he died in 1953, but Hank Williams – one of the most influential artists in all of music, not just country – would have turned 100 this week (17 September). BBC Four pays tribute this evening with a showing of Honky Tonk Blues, an Arena special that first aired in 2005, along with the 2015 biopic I Saw the Light (11.50 pm), starring Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Olsen and Bradley Whitford.

Best box set on TV tonight

Mad Men, UKTV Play (box set)

The brilliant period drama about a New York advertising agency, which originally aired on BBC Four, is available to stream for free on UKTV Play from Tuesday, September 19. Mad Men follows the fortunes of Sterling Cooper and its many incarnations, from the early 1960s to the early 1970s. In the role of genius ad man Don Draper, a character whose complicated history unfolds throughout the series, Jon Hamm became the breakout star, but it’s really an ensemble piece with a great cast including Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery, Christina Hendricks and Jared Harris. The recipient of numerous Emmys, BAFTAs and Golden Globes, it will no doubt remain a fixture on ‘greatest ever TV’ lists for many years to come (why not check where it placed on What To Watch's Top 100 TV shows list?).

Best film on TV tonight

No One Will Save You, Disney Plus

With roles in dramas such as Unbelievable and Dopesick, Kaitlyn Dever has proved she’s one of the best young actors around. Here, she stars in an intense psychological sci-fi thriller about a young woman alienated from her local community who finds solace isolated in the house where she grew up… only to discover she’s not entirely alone. Brynn (Dever) finds comfort in her childhood home, until she’s awakened one night by strange noises from other-worldly intruders. Not for the faint-hearted, but a must for all fans of the genre.
