TVLine Items: Erin & Aaron Cancelled, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Eric Debut and More

Erin & Aaron, a Nickelodeon musical comedy that followed similarly named teenagers whose worlds are turned upside-down when the former’s dad marries the latter’s mother, will not be returning for Season 2, a network spokesperson confirms for TVLine.

Erin & Aaron premiered in April 2023 and ran for 12 episodes, averaging barely 100,000 weekly viewers. The cast was led by Ava Ro (Dino Ranch) and Jensen Gering, and also included TV vet Larisa Oleynik (Pretty Little Liars, The Secret World of Alex Mack) as Aaron’s mom.

Eric, the Netflix thriller starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will debut all six episodes on Thursday, May 30. Set in New York during the 1980s, the show centers on a desperate father’s search for his nine-year-old son who went missing one morning on his way to school.

* HBO has announced that The Jinx – Part Two — the previously announced, six-part continuation of The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst — will premiere Sunday, April 21. In Part Two, the filmmakers “continue their investigation for the next eight years, uncovering hidden material, Durst’s prison calls, and interviews with witnesses who had not come forward until now,” according to the official synopsis.

* NBC News has hired former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel as an on-air contributor. Per sister site THR, McDaniel will first appear on this Sunday’s Meet the Press, and also contribute to NBC, MSNBC and NBC News Now programming.

* Lisa Frankenstein, the horror comedy starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse, will stream Friday, March 29 on Peacock. Additionally, the supernatural horror Night Swim — featuring Wyatt Russell as an ex-MLB player with a malevolent force in his backyard swimming pool — will head to the streamer on Friday, April 5.

* Netflix’s six-part limited series Black Doves has added four more to its ensemble, including Adeel Akhtar (Sweet Tooth), Tracey Ullman (The Tracey Ullman Show), Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) and Luther Ford (The Crown). The story follows Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), a housewife and spy for the shadowy organization the Black Doves, who enlists her spymaster Reed (Sarah Lancashire) and old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) to investigate her secret lover Jason’s (Andrew Koji) assassination.

*The two-hour special Eclipse Across America, anchored by World News Tonight’s David Muir and ABC News Live Prime’s Linsey Davis from Burlington, Vermont, will broadcast live on Monday, April 8 starting at 2 p.m. It will air across ABC, ABC News Live, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, Disney+ and Hulu as well as network social media platforms.
