TVLine Items: Wilson Bethel’s Netflix Series, Jaws @ 50 Documentary and More

Wilson Bethel is going off the grid: The All Rise vet has joined Eric Bana in the Netflix limited series Untamed, our sister site Deadline reports.

The mystery thriller centers around Kyle Turner (Bana), “a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park and in his own past.”

Bethel — whose credits also include Daredevil and Hart of Dixie — will play a former army ranger-turned-Wildlife Management Officer who prefers “to live by himself in the wilderness where it’s easier to follow his own rules.”

Additionally, Lily Santiago (La Brea) has been cast as a former Los Angeles cop who is the newest addition to Yosemite’s ranger squad.

* To mark the 50th anniversary of the Peter Benchley bestseller that went on to become a box-office smash, National Geographic has greenlit Jaws @ 50 (working title), a documentary directed by Laurent Bouzereau that will include footage and photography from the Benchley and Steven Spielberg archives and all-new interviews.

* Lilli Kay (Your Honor, Yellowstone) has boarded Owen Wilson’s untitled Apple TV+ comedy, playing a “Gen-Z social justice warrior who joins Pryce Cahill (Wilson) on the road as he shepherds a young phenom (Peter Dager) through the world of competitive golf,” Deadline reports.

* Amber Mark, Brandy Clark, Lainey Wilson, Luis Fonsi, Mickey Guyton, Tanner Adell and The War and Treaty will perform at the annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks special, airing Thursday, July 4 at 8/7c on NBC and Peacock.

* Apple TV+’s revival series Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, premiering Friday, Aug. 9, will feature musical performances and original music from Anderson .Paak, Portugal. The Man and Thundercat, along with Betty Who, The Linda Lindas, Miyavi, Cory Wong & Antwaun Stanley, Kurt Vile, The Drums and The Interrupters. Additionally, visiting guests include Reggie Watts (Tuca & Bertie), Sam Richardson (The Afterparty), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Ghosts), Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is the New Black), Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Diplo, Flea, Big Daddy Kane and Paul Williams.
