If you were ever in doubt about the cast of 13 Reasons Why giving you intense #friendshipgoals, two of the cast members, Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn, made an important LGBTQ film, and it’s actually kinda low key adorable.

Ever since the show arrived on Netflix, people haven’t been able to stop talking about 13 Reasons Why. Whether it’s the show’s important but divisive discussion of suicide and sexual assault, to the fact that the cast seem to have all become BFFs, or the news that the show would, indeed, be coming back for Season 2, people are, understandably, pretty obsessed with it.

Their story isn't over. Season 2 of #13ReasonsWhy is coming.

One of the things that fans of the show picked up on was the relationship between cast members Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn (who play Alex and Justin respectively). As Teen Vogue reported at the time, after some cute AF pictures emerged of the pair on social media, fans began to ship the pair hardcore.

Despite the fans’ insistence that the pair were, in fact, a couple, reps for Heizer denied the reports, telling Page Six, “This is a false report. Miles and Brandon are friends from the show but are not dating.”

The fact that Heizer and Flynn aren’t dating doesn’t negate how adorable their relationship is, and now it’s come to light that the pair’s friendship extends beyond working on 13 Reasons Why.

Both 13 Reasons Why‘s Miles Heizer and Brandon Flynn appeared in a short film together, and it makes an important statement about LGBTQ issues.

The film, titled Home Videos, was directed by Kevin Rios, and was actually picked up an Honorable Mention for the Audience Award at Outfest’s Fusion Film Festival.

As MTV News report, the film has been on Rios’ Vimeo account for a few months, but it seems to have recently been discovered by sleuths online. In the short film, homophobic news clips are juxtaposed with discussions of resistance, and it’s super inspiring. There’s also some cute boys kissing, too (including Heizer and Flynn). Watch the clip below.

Meanwhile, following the news that 13 Reasons Why would be returning for a second season, Miles Heizer has spoken out about how fan theories about his character Alex are wrong. The end of the show’s first season saw Alex critically injured after shooting himself. However, the star said that things might not go the way people expect.

“That’s another subject that’s very rarely shown onscreen and is probably a lot more common than people think it is. People attempting to take their lives and it not happening,” he said. “I’m sure that will bring a crazy set of issues. It would be interesting to go into that.”

Regardless of what happens next season, hopefully we’ll get to see more of Heizer and Flynn’s friendship, as it’s just so darn lovely!
