Two British teenagers and their driver were killed in a horror crash on the world’s largest salt flat in Bolivia.

Freddie Michael McLennan and George Joseph Atkins, who were both 19, were driving in a black 4x4 when it flipped on the famous Salar de Uyuni flat, which is around 190 miles from the capital, La Paz.

Local Alberto Barca, 22, was driving the vehicle when it crashed. Local police commander Colonel Bernardo Isnado said that the car appeared to be travelling over the speed limit when the accident happened.

Four other people - believed to be from Argentina and the UK - were also injured.

The salt flats at Salar de Uyuni cover more than 4,000 square miles and are the country’s main tourist attraction. They are also used as a key transport route in the South American country.
