Two men die in M62 crash

Two men have died after a serious crash on the M62 motorway this morning.

Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway of the M62 between junctions 8 and 7 following the crash, which happened at around 5.30am today, July 11. The crash involved two lorries and a car.

This morning, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were working to rescue people trapped at the scene.

Cheshire Police confirmed late this afternoon that two men who were travelling in the car died at the scene. The men's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of one of the two lorries, a 61-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The carriageway was closed between junction 9 and junction 7 while emergency services worked at the scene but has since reopened.
