Two people have been taken to hospital after a smash between a truck and a car in North Staffordshire. Police and paramedics were called out to the main junction in Bottomhouse, on the outskirts of Ipstones.

On arrival at the scene on Ashbourne Road, emergency services found a car and a lorry had been involved in a collision. West Midlands Ambulance Service says the two occupants of the car were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The alarm was raised just after 4pm yesterday (May 16).

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry at the junction of the A523 and the B5053 in Bottomhouse. One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the car and a woman who was the passenger in the car. Both were assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. They received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment.”
