Two people have been taken to hospital after car hit another vehicle following a police chase in Rishton.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Spring Street at 12:08am on Sunday June 23. A silver Volkswagen Passat, which was involved in the disturbance, did not stop when signalled.

Following a short chase, it collided with another vehicle on the Whitebirk roundabout. Police are now investigating the circumstances.

A spokesman said: "We were called to Spring Street, Rishton, at 12.08am yesterday (June 23) following reports of an ongoing serious disturbance. A silver Volkswagen Passat involved in this disturbance was later seen by police on High Street, Rishton, and the driver failed to stop when requested to do so by an officer.

"Following a short pursuit, the Passat collided with another vehicle on the Whitebirk Roundabout. The occupants of both vehicles have been taken to hospital."

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving a motor vehicle while unfit through drink or drugs and on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

A 29-year-old and 26-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. Anyone with information or dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage which could assist with the investigation is asked to email or call 101. Quote log 584 of June 23, 2024.
