The next phase of works on a North Yorkshire promenade is set to begin this week.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have confirmed the first phase of their project to improve the appearance of Marine Parade and the foreshore area in Saltburn has been completed.

They confirmed resurfacing work between Saltburn Bank to the Tramway has been finished.

The next phase of works, which are planned to take two weeks, will be taking place from where the first phase ended to Milton Street on the seaward footway.

A spokesperson for RCBC said: “The installation of the replacement concrete rail and some posts on Marine Parade is ongoing, with the redecoration of the post and kerbs to be completed after Phase 2 of the resurfacing is complete.

“The contractor will need to temporarily fence off areas on the seaward side to ensure access and enable safe working practices. We kindly ask residents to find alternative parking over this period.

“Soon you will see the temporary removal of street furniture such as benches, bins, and planters. We are currently speaking with families in relation to the memorial benches about renewal of the benches with a heritage style matching the character of all other heritage benches on Marine Parade and the lower Promenade.

“All street furniture will be back in place upon completion.

“We'd like to thank you all for your patience while we carry these improvement works out.”
