Tyler Perry’s Sistas Quietly Recasts Andi’s Boyfriend Jordan in Season 7

If you tuned into last week’s season premiere of Tyler Perry’s Sistas and thought that Andi’s new boyfriend looked even newer than you remembered, we’ve got good news: you’re not going crazy! (Not about this, anyway. We don’t know your life.)

Jordan, originally played by Sean Sagar in Season 6, is now being played by Devin Way — a change made even more jarring by the fact that we rolled right into Season 7 with no break. (We usually have a hiatus during which we can prepare ourselves for such things!)

But if you’re hoping for a juicy story behind Sagar’s departure, prepare to be disappointed, as scheduling conflicts are apparently to blame. Sagar now stars as Special Agent DeShawn Jackson on Paramount+’s NCIS: Sydney, which premiered in November.

Sagar addressed his exit via Instagram on the day of the premiere, posting this emotional message: “To all my Sistas family, sorry I can’t be on your screens and be a part of this season! But I just want to say thank you for all the messages and love you’ve shown me. Honestly means more than you know.”

Several cast members returned the love, including Sagar’s on-screen girlfriend. “Sean, we miss you and are so happy for you!” KJ Smith (aka Andi) replied to his post. “Thanks so much for your time with us.”

He also didn’t rule out a potential return to Sistas someday, adding, “Who knows what the future holds?”

Way, best known for his work on Grey’s Anatomy and Peacock’s Queer as Folk reboot, made his debut as Jordan 2.0 in the season premiere, casually alluding to the recast with this cheeky line: “I feel like a completely different person since then.” (Well played, Sistas. Well played.)

The premiere found Jordan suffering through an unimaginably awkward double date with Andi, Penelope and Gary — and just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any worse, Penelope caught her fiancé going to town on himself while sniffing a pair of Andi’s stolen panties!

Given that Andi is his girlfriend and Penelope is his sister, Jordan is sure to have some feelings about Gary’s latest stunt on tonight’s follow-up episode (BET, 9/8c). And we can’t wait to see how he reacts.
