Tyler West has scored the first 10s of Strictly Come Dancing 2022 - just days after completing the London Marathon.

Radio DJ West ran 26.2 miles the morning after last week's live Strictly episode, finishing in a time of 5 hours 25 minutes and raising money for charity UK Youth.

But on top of training for both the marathon and the show, he then had the tough task ahead of him of learning an energetic Charleston from scratch while recovering from the gruelling race.

Tired legs did not hold West back from a series of kicks and leaps though, as he and partner Dianne Buswell became the first couple of the series to be awarded top marks by a judge this series.

West and Buswell's Charleston to 'Flash, Bang, Wollop!' from Half A Sixpence saw Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas both give them 10s, while Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke both awarded them nines.

An amazed Buswell said: "I don't know how he did it after running a marathon, it's unbelievable, I'm so proud of you."

West was speechless as he celebrated reaching the top of the leaderboard.

One fan tweeted: "Tyler + Dianne's dance was amazing, one of those dances you'll remember."

Someone else wrote: "Two 10's!! I'm so happy for Tyler and Dianne!! What a dance!! And after doing the marathon last week!"

This week is movie week on Strictly, which means that couples have taken inspiration from famous films in their dances.

Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice danced in costume for The Lion King, Fleur East and Vito Coppola took inspiration from The Little Mermaid, and Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal danced a Rumba to the Jurassic Park theme.

The show opened with the pro cast dancing to 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from Encanto, which drew jokes from many fans about former judge Bruno Tonioli.

Host Claudia Winkleman said: "Just for the record, we do talk about Bruno - all the time."
