Tynemouth general election results 2024 in full
Voters in the Tynemouth constituency have been going to the polls in the general election 2024 to choose their new MP. The Tynemouth seat covers Tynemouth, North Shields, Whitley Bay, Cullercoats and Monkseaton. Tynemouth lost the Valley ward to the new Cramlington and Killingworth seat but has gained the Riverside area that used to be in North Tyneside.
Once a Conservative stronghold, Tynemouth has been held by Labour since 1997 after the election of former schoolteacher Alan Campbell. Now Labour’s chief whip, Sir Alan previously held a majority of almost 5,000. He has been re-elected for 2024 with a majority of more than 15,000.
Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK were declared in the early hours of Friday morning, with Tynemouth declaring shortly before 2.30am.
