Tyreik Wright leaves Plymouth Argyle for Bradford City in permanent transfer

Tyreik Wright has described it as 'a no-brainer for me' to join League Two side Bradford City for an undisclosed fee from Plymouth Argyle.

Wright has had two previous loan spells with the Bantams, first when he was at Aston Villa and then over the second half of last season from the Pilgrims. The versatile 22-year-old, who impressed for Bradford at left wing-back towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign, has signed an initial two-year contract on his return to the West Yorkshire club.

It brings to an end an unhappy time for Wright as an Argyle player. He was signed from Villa in January 2023 but went on to make just eight starts and five substitute appearances, and did not get any goals. What turned out to be his last match for the Pilgrims came off the bench in a 1-0 Championship defeat away to Coventry City last November.

Wright told Bradford's official club website: "I am absolutely buzzing. I came back on a second loan last season and felt at home again straight away. It was a no-brainer for me to come back here permanently this time.

"I had a great conversation with the gaffer - and other staff members - towards the end of the season, who said he would love to have me back, and I said I wanted to be here on a permanent basis. I am delighted to be back.

"I feel at home here with the lads and the staff, and I have always loved the fans here. I want to feel comfortable in the environment, and there is no better place for me than here.

"The gaffer has told me where he sees me playing, and I just want to play. I enjoyed playing at wing-back last season and I am ready to go."

Bradford boss Gary Alexander added: "I am really happy we have managed to get Tyreik on board permanently. We have kept in touch through the summer, and he has been so positive about trying to make this happen. He has got great attributes which will benefit the team, and we have brought in another player with a great character.”
