Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings has shared an update on his progress as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury suffered back in August.

The centre-back has made great strides in his rehabilitation and recently started using the ball out on the training pitches at Bodymoor Heath. In a video shared on his TikTok account, Mings was seen participating in a small passing drill and also running the length of the pitch as he gets comfortable back out on the grass.

It's a huge step forward as the defender hopes to build his fitness up during pre-season to be ready for the start of the 2024/25 campaign. Emi Buendia also sustained an ACL injury in August, just days before Villa kicked off their Premier League season against Newcastle.

Back in February, Mings posted on Instagram: "I’m gonna keep it 100. I cannot wait to get back on the pitch, but I’m really enjoying the fight to get there."

Emery signed Clement Lenglet on loan to cover Mings' absence throughout the season. Although Mings and Buendia have not been able to make an impact this term as Villa target Champions League qualification and Europa Conference League glory, Emery has been keen to involve them as much as possible.

"Always they are in our mind," he this year about the duo earlier this year. "They have spirit and they support us in the training ground.

"I think all the season they are going to be out, but hopefully they can train at the end of the season. Then starting next season being fine to come back like before."

Back in November, before Villa's trip to Tottenham, Emery explained: “Today we had a meeting this morning analysing the matches we played and for Sunday. I forgot at the beginning the two names when I was setting the players for Sunday and for the next month. I was forgetting them but I was remembering after it and I put again their names. It is important.

“Everything we are doing now and we are being succesful or less successful, we have to remember them always because they are always working hard in their training sessions. We have to get them a part of us.”
