Tyson Fury has missed three of his children’s births due to boxing.

The Gypsy King began boxing at the mere age of 10. Since making his professional debut in 2008, Fury has relentlessly trained to fulfil his quest of becoming the world’s greatest boxer, which he achieved when he beat Wladimir Klitschko to claim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles.

Fury’s long-awaited showdown with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk on May 18 will provide another chance for him to cement himself as the greatest heavyweight this century, by becoming undisputed world champion in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old’s success has meant juggling his gruelling training camps with being a dad to his seven children, something which has sometimes proved difficult over almost two decades. Fury even admitted to making huge sacrifices such as missing wife Paris give birth to three of his kids.

He said on Episode 3 of Fury Uncovered: “I’ve always had a family throughout my career in boxing. I’ve missed a few births, missed three births. But I suppose it’s part of my job.

“I’ve got a job to do. I’ve got to pay the bills, I’ve got to look after the family, I’ve got to keep them in clothes and food and all that sort of stuff. It’s my job to do what I do.”

Fury added: “My two lives are so different. One life is the life of a superstar boxer and an athlete. The other is just being a normal everyday dad. It’s difficult to switch between both of them but that’s why we have camps and we leave our families.”

The Manchester-born WBC champion shares seven children with his wife, Paris, of 15 years. Venezuela, Prince John James, Prince Tyson II, Valencia Amber, Prince Adonis Amaziah and Athena were followed by the birth of Prince Rico in September 2023.

Fury could not make his youngest son’s birth due to his preparation for a crossover bout with former MMA champion Francis Ngannou on October 28. “During camps, he has to separate himself [from family] I think,” a member of his team also said.

“From when I’ve been with him I don’t think he can really be both people. If you’re getting ready to get in the ring with someone and hurt them, it’s hard to be that and a family man as well.”
