Who Is Ubah Hassan's Boyfriend? All About Oliver Dachsel
Ubah Hassan first teased her boyfriend on season 14 of The Real Housewives of New York City
Ubah Hassan may be ready to put her life in the public eye, but she’s notoriously private when it comes to her love life.
The Real Housewives of New York City star first mentioned her boyfriend, Oliver Dachsel, in the later episodes of season 14, simply referring to him as “Mr. Connecticut.” From there, drama ensued as some of her costars spread the word of her private romance and shared that he was from the state on camera.
“He is very private because of his work,” Hassan explained in part 1 of the RHONY season 14 reunion, which aired on Oct. 22, 2023, as to why she was so secretive about Dachsel.
She confirmed the two were still dating, and a few days after the episode aired, Hassan stepped out with Dachsel publicly for the first time at the 2023 American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala at Lincoln Center in N.Y.C.
So, who is Ubah Hassan’s boyfriend? Here’s everything to know about Oliver Dachsel and his relationship with the reality TV star.
He is from Germany
Dachsel may now reside in Connecticut, as Hassan revealed on RHONY, but he is originally from Germany. Per his LinkedIn, the businessman attended WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany, where he graduated in 2006.
He also served in the German military services in 2001.
He is an investment banker
Dachsel got his start in the banking industry with Deutsche Bank in their Frankfurt office, moving to London after two years and ultimately N.Y.C. in July 2011, per his LinkedIn.
He switched to Jefferies in August 2016 and has been at the company since, currently serving as their managing director.
They met through mutual friends
After going public with her relationship, Hassan shared with PEOPLE at the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala in October 2023 a bit more about how the two met.
Hassan mentioned that they’d been dating for “over a year” after meeting “through friends.”
"I want to say things like, 'We met on Tinder or Bumble,' but not really,” she joked.
Hassan wanted to keep their relationship private
Hassan first mentioned Dachsel in episode 13 of RHONY after her costar Sai De Silva’s husband David Craig questioned why Hassan was single.
“I’m good,” Hassan whispered to De Silva, showing her pictures of her then-new man.
“Since David is so curious, I’m going to show his wife what is going on in my iPhone,” Hassan said in a confessional. “It’s very delicious.”
She elaborated that she was keeping her relationship secret from the other women because it was “very new” and she didn’t “want anyone else’s energy.” Hassan said, “I just want to make decisions for myself, and Sai can keep a secret."
De Silva, however, did not keep it a secret and she soon told castmates Erin Lichy and Brynn Whitfield about Hassan’s new man, sharing during a “circle of trust” moment in an off-camera dinner that he was from Connecticut.
At Whitfield’s birthday party in the following episode, chaos ensued when Hassan picked up a call from her boyfriend, and Whitfield shouted from across the room, “Hey Ubah, I heard you got a man in Connecticut.”
Hassan was furious and whispered to her, “If you mention Connecticut, I’m going to circumcise you.”
“The whole thing was confidential so she must have heard from Sai,” Hassan said in a confessional. "But for Brynn to mention a part of that I’m just like b---- you don’t deserve a birthday, we should take you to McDonald’s drive-thru, and no fries for you.”
During the reunion, Hassan elaborated that it was Dachsel who wanted to keep their relationship private because of his job and she wanted to be respectful of his wishes.
Hassan’s castmates approve of him
Though Dachsel’s introduction to the group may have been full of drama, Hassan’s castmates had nothing but kind words to share about him at the reunion where Hassan confirmed they were “still going strong.”
Andy Cohen, who was hosting the reunion, shared that he met Dachsel and was impressed by how “tall and handsome” he was.
“He’s the most lovely man, really, and very handsome,” Lichy then added, while De Silva said, “He is so in love with her. He has sparkles in his eyes.”
"He is the perfect counterpart to Ubah,” fellow costar Jessel Tank added. “He is patient, he is loving. He kind of just looks at her like she is art in a museum.”
They made their red carpet debut in October 2023
Just days after the reunion episode aired, Hassan and Dachsel stepped out for the first time together at the 2023 American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala.
"It's our first time on the carpet together," Hassan told PEOPLE at the event, where she referred to Dachsel as "my boyfriend" and shared more about their mutual appreciation for the ballet. "We love it, it's very beautiful. We just saw [George Balanchine's] Jewels last month, it was my birthday present."
The pair held hands while on the carpet and cozied up for photos, with photographers even snapping a few shots of them gazing romantically into each other’s eyes and laughing together.
The following day, they stepped out again, this time for the Alzheimer's Association Imagine Benefit at Jazz, also at Lincoln Center.
They plan to have a baby together
Hassan opened up about her hopes for the future with Daschel during the season 15 premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City, which aired in early October 2024. While at lunch, she told costars Lichy and Rebecca Minkoff that she wanted "to start trying" to get pregnant toward the end of the year.
“I never thought I wanted to have a baby,” Hassan said in a confessional. “I’m a little spoiled when it comes to my sleep, when it comes to doing what I want to do, travel to Paris just to have dessert. But when I’m talking to Oliver at dinner time with a little candlelight, I’m like, ‘Yes, let’s do it.' "
