Uber Vehicle Used As A Getaway Car By Suspected Armed Robber

A suspected armed robber who tried to use an Uber vehicle as a getaway car has been arrested.

Dashawn Terrell Cochran, 23, is accused of robbing a Royal Farm convenience store in Parksville, Maryland, armed with a gun, at about 2.30am last Wednesday.

Allegedly fleeing with an amount of cash from the register, he was later spotted getting into the back of a silver Lexus car. When police officers caught up to the vehicle, there were three people inside, including Cochran.

The driver told them he was an Uber driver who had just picked up a passenger. This passenger was in the back seat of the car with Cochran, and police released both the passenger and the driver after they determined they had nothing to do with the robbery.

The incident took place about five miles north of central Baltimore.

It is not known if Cochran flagged down the vehicle or booked it using an Uber app.

Cochran was arrested within 30 minutes of the emergency call and was charged with armed robbery. He is being held at Baltimore County Detention Centre on bail.
