Ugly Betty Reunion: America Ferrera Pitches Hulu Revival Movie

The cast of ‘Ugly Betty’ reunited Saturday (June 11) night at the ATX Television Festival – taking the opportunity to pitch for a revival on Hulu.

America Ferrera, Michael Urie, Tony Plana, Eric Mabius, Ana Ortiz, Vanessa Williams, Mark Indelicato, Rebecca Romijn, Ashley Jensen, Judith Light and showrunner Silvio Horta came together to reminisce about the popular series that lasted for four seasons.

The hit ABC show revolved around Betty Suarez (Ferrera) who, despite her lack of personal style, lands a job at the prestigious high-fashion magazine named Mode, whereby she has to survive the shark infested waters of the industry.

After six long years, though, one particular question kept popping up during the panel: Will Betty ever return to our screens?

Lead star Ferrera admitted that she didn’t want to let ‘Ugly Betty’ go, and then said in jest, while simultaneously building everyone’s hopes up: “Hulu’s going to pick us up for a two-hour special.”

After receiving strong applause from the audience and her cast members, she continued to pitch for the revival: “That’s not true, but if you tweet it… Everybody here take out your phone.

“Hashtag: Betty Reboot. We need a hashtag and tweet it out and then we’re going to get Hulu to buy a two-hour special.”

Even more promisingly, Horta was open to the idea of an ‘Ugly Betty’ reunion, under one condition: the entire original team returns.

“Here’s the only thing I know for sure – if we were to do something, it would be a dream, but everybody on this stage would have to be involved. And Becki Newton,” he claimed.

That isn’t as much of a challenge as it sounds either, as the cast reunion for ATX reportedly only took two weeks to plan with every star agreeing to participate in less than 24 hours.

“I mean, it took 20 minutes for everyone to say yes to my email to be at ATX!” Ferrera exclaimed.
