UK on brink of 'final' snow of 2024 and it'll fall within days

Uk faces '30 hours' of snow before April ends in one final flurry of winter, it has been warned. Maps and charts from WX Charts, made using Met Desk data, show the country's gradient turn purple as Britain looks set to be hit by 30 hours of constant snow.

Snow will be seen in several parts of the country at around 3 pm on April 14 (Sunday) and last until 9 pm on April 15, with northern areas and Scotland worst-hit by the white stuff as the country experiences a final blanket before spring fully starts.

Weather expert, Jim Dale, has warned: “The weather conditions are likely to swing up and down in the coming days. Sometimes it will stay quite warm, for instance, this Friday and Saturday, and back to being a bit cooler on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday."

Looking ahead at the weekend, the Met Office forecast for Friday night reads: "A dry evening with late hazy sunshine. Some low cloud feeding in at times from the west but remaining dry. Mild with winds easing for a time." And on Saturday, the Met Office predicts for Birmingham: "Largely dry to start with hazy sunshine at times, turning cloudier during the afternoon with patchy rain.

"Feeling rather warm with a breeze picking up through the day. Becoming cooler." The outlook for Sunday onwards adds: "Sunny spells and occasional showers on Sunday. Showers becoming more widespread and heavier on Monday, with temperatures returning to average. Cloudier with a few showers on Tuesday. Breezy."

The BBC outlook for Sunday onwards continues: "Cooler on Sunday. Sunny spells for much of the day in the east. Turning cloudy from the west through the day. Windy with outbreaks of heavy rain in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Monday will be windy with heavy rain clearing to the south-east, leaving a mix of sunny spells and blustery, heavy showers, mainly in the north.

"Showers in the east on Tuesday. Drier elsewhere."
