UK GAS-Prices decline on healthy supplies and reduced demand

LONDON, March 21 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices declined on Thursday morning on healthy supplies and reduced demand for heating due to milder temperatures.

* Day-ahead gas inched down by 0.13 pence to 37.45 pence per therm at 0921 GMT.

* Within-day gas price was 0.35 pence lower at 37.50 p/therm.

* Traders said milder temperatures have reduced heating demand and the system is well-supplied with gas.

* Peak wind generation is forecast at around 7.9 gigawatts (GW), rising to 9.4 GW on Friday, Elexon data shows.

* This should reduce demand from gas-to-power plant.

* The system is slightly long, with demand forecast at 225 million cubic metres (mcm) and flows at 230 mcm/day, National Grid data shows.

* UK domestic production and supply from Norway are stable.

* Upcoming strikes at Total's North Sea platforms scheduled for March 27, April 2 and April 12 could lead to a slight decrease in flows to St Fergus terminal and Bacton Seal but similar action earlier this month did not impact the flows, Refinitiv analysts said.

* Send-out from liquefied natual gas (LNG) terminal South Hook is at 23mcm/d and is expected to be around 20 mcm/day for the rest of this month.

* The April contract was 0.45 pence lower at 37.65 p/therm.

* The benchmark Dec-19 EU carbon contract was 0.19 euro lower at 21.45 euros a tonne.

* Day-ahead gas at the Dutch TTF hub slipped by 0.20 euro to 14.88 euros per megawatt hour.

* Norwegian flows and LNG send-out to the continent remain strong. (Reporting by Nina Chestney)
