UK heatwave announced with 30C scorcher but people have 'big complaint'

A UK July heatwave has been announced - but people have a major complaint. Weather forecasters and meteorologists have said temperatures could rise to as high as 30C at times in the seventh month of the year as the mercury soars.

July will finally see weather improve after weeks of disappointing weather, with washout conditions and heavy rainfall as well as grey skies. But people have a major complaint over the rising temperatures and promise of stifling mercury in the country.

Taking to Reddit, a cheeky Brit said: "Too warm to wear a rain coat, too wet not to Just went to walk the dog. Starting ****ing it down 5 minutes after leaving the house so I put my "breathable" water proof on. Ended up wet and hot."

Another said: "Has anyone noticed how hard it is to find a simple waterproof jacket? Like you can get "shower-proof", that resist the rain for about 5 minutes and then start to soak through, but getting a basic, waterproof jacket seems to be impossible.

"Like, even the expensive sports shops don't sell quality waterproofs any more..." A second said: "Honestly this weather is getting me down. Can’t remember a summer this bad. These past couple of weeks have been terrible. So windy and rainy all the time."

"Waterproofs are advertised as waterproof and breathable, but they're actually waterproof OR breathable. If they're wet they don't breathe. But by your description it sounds like it just isn't waterproof either which a lot of them unfortunely aren't," another said.

"This is fairly easy, today is 100% coat weather. In addition to the weather, pollen and UV forecast, they should add a coat probability to the weather forecast. Obviously Newcastle would be 0% year round," another wrote.

"I’ve got a dead thin waterproof anorak that’s not too bad. You still get sticky sweaty after a while that’s just the humidity we have to deal with sadly, but it’s better than a proper raincoat and some of these “breathable” options aren’t up to the task I find," another commented.
