UK to roast in 'glorious' Saharan scorcher with three parts of England hottest

Forecasters and meteorologists have predicted when a glorious bout of sunshine will hit the UK after last week's mini-heatwave. The Midlands, south west of England and south Wales will sizzle hottest as temperatures jump by 20C at times in parts of the country as warmth from Europe sweeps the country, according to InMeteo and WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, maps and charts.

Netweather forecaster Jo Farrow said: "Warm air from the Sahara was transported over Iberia towards southern France around an area of high pressure. This proved exceptional for the beginning of April with an average temperature in France (average of temperatures over 30 reference stations) reaching 17.9C, which had never happened before April 15 in France.

"Last week, warm air from Africa flowed up through Spain and France reaching parts of Britain. North London saw 21.5C on Friday 12th. Saturday 13th saw the highest UK temperature of the year, so far, near Chelmsford in Essex with 21.8C."

The best of the weather sweeps the UK from Europe as UK maps and charts show the country roasting orange, black and yellow and red. The outlook for Saturday onwards from the Met Office reads: "A dry weekend for most with sunny periods on Saturday, then generally cloudier on Sunday. Isolated showers on Monday. Winds easing and feeling a bit warmer, though still chilly overnight."

The Met Office says of Thursday: "After a chilly start, this morning will be dry and mainly sunny. Turning cloudier from the middle of the day onwards but skies remaining bright for a time. Thicker cloud this afternoon with patchy light rain possible later."

Looking ahead to tonight, it goes on: "Mostly cloudy this evening and overnight with occasional bursts of showery rain. Turning clearer from the north later. Not as chilly as last night and staying frost free. Rather breezy." The outlook for Friday adds: "A few showers are possible during the morning.

"Otherwise a fairly bright day with broken cloud and sunny intervals, these becoming more prolonged later. A brisk northwesterly breeze."
