UK tourists going on stag and hen parties to Spain or Portugal 'warned'

European cities which are cracking down on stag dos are set for huge influx in 2025. Tenerife, Albufeira, Amsterdam and Prague are all set for a huge influx of stag parties next year despite efforts to deter groups from heading there.

According to stats released from StagWeb.co.uk, one of the UK’s leading stag do providers, all four destinations are expected to have a bump in partiers in 2025. This is in spite of the fact that each of the destinations have discussed imposing various restrictions on weekends.

In Tenerife, protests have erupted over so-called "overtourism" amid an influx of Brits while in Portugal, city Albufeira has discussed a crackdown and imposing a Code of Conduct. In Prague there is a proposed fancy dress ban for stag do visitors and hen party visitors.

In Amsterdam, the Netherlands city has launched a "Stay Away Campaign." But Tenerife is braced for a 232 per cent increase, while trips to Albufeira will rise a staggering 75 per cent, with Prague and Amsterdam registering 66 per cent and 28 per cent increases too.

“This is good news for these destinations,” said Jamie Birleson, Head of Sales at StagWeb.co.uk. “They are all absolutely within their rights to try and curb anti-social behaviour, but to try and deter stags completely is madness.

“The vast majority of groups heading to these places are well-behaved and pump a lot of money into the local economy, it’s just a tiny minority who are the issue. As a company, we will do our best to remind our groups to behave appropriately and hopefully everyone can benefit because it would be a shame if stags and locals couldn’t peacefully co-exist.

“The stats show that these campaigns so far haven’t stopped people from wanting to head to these destinations, so let’s work together to ensure everyone can enjoy them.” StagWeb are one of the UK’s leading stag party planners having sent over 700,000 people off on their pre-wedding weekends since 2002.
