'Unbelievable': Driver Travels Through Severe Flooding in Brooklyn Neighborhood

Severe flooding hit the New York City area on September 29, as the National Weather Service (NWS) reported record daily rainfall across the city.

Footage posted to Instagram by local business Delacqua Salon & Spa shows severe flooding in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bensonhurst on Friday morning. “Unbelievable,” a car passenger says in the video.

On Saturday, though floodwaters had receded, there was “frustration” among New Yorkers dealing with flooded basements and property, local media reported.

According to preliminary results, Friday was the “wettest September day on record” at JFK airport, the NWS said, eclipsing the previous record set in 1960. Credit: Delacqua Salon & Spa via Storyful
